does anybody know the float adjustment for a Rochester 1 bbl carb

Be more specific. Do you mean distance from the top of the carb? You should be able to gooooooooogle those rebuild directions that come with the kit and it will tell you the dry settinig.

There's a lot of different adjustments depending on the carb that you have.
But on these single barrels it is not that critical. I've rebuilt a few of these have never used a guage. I adjust them so that the float is level when needle is closed and/or I have at least a 1/2 bowl of fuel when full.

If you have a model or type I can look at my old book and see if I can find one. My old chiltons lists a bunch of them for cars from '65-'72. They should be similar or close enough.

On one of my books it shows the M and MV series vary between 9/32 to 11/32 from the top of the casting to the top of the float with the tang on top of the needle valve depressed. That's should be a good start.

well i have the float right but when i stomp on it it still floods out and the needle is just about closed on the side of the carb. now what??

Not sure I know what you mean by "floods out" when you stomp on it. Also, not sure what you mean by "needle is just about closed out on side of the carb."

Flooding means that the carb is leaking too much fuel into the intake and causing black smoke to come out the tail pipe. Usually caused by debris or gunk in the carb and may need to be removed and cleaned out completely.

Now if you mean that there the bowl is overflowing and causing the gas to spill into the engine, then it may be the needle not seating properly or the float is saturated and not lifting up enough to push the needle. A kit would resolve that issue.

when u stomp on it the truck bogs down because the carb is flooding out and letting in to much gas but the bowl is only half full when it stops letting in gas. and the needle on the carb is closed means the screw is in all the way in which is closing it from getting the right air fuel ratio. maybe its just me but thats how i hear those terms and the carb is brand new it dosent need a kit i just took it back and ordered a new one
