It could just be the picture too, things don’t always translate so well in photos.

Re: 72 highlander seat cover

Last time I talked to SW Classic if you ordered it with the scroll work the plaid insert didn't go all the way to the bottom of the seat. Is that the way they came from the factory or was there an option of with or without the scroll, the non scroll going all the way to the bottom of the seat if that makes sense.

Re: 72 highlander seat cover

SMS Highlander plaid with I believe is the original vinyl on the seats. I had the plaid sewn in. I know you couldn't get buckets in a Custom/Deluxe but I think they will look like they belong once installed.

Do you remember how much plaid material you purchased to do your bucket seats? I am wanting to do the same with blue plaid.

Re: 72 highlander seat cover

I have several yards I’m not using. 91 inches by 51 inches. It was for two buckets and a bench. $250 plus shipping. Bucket seat for scale only.

Yep, my upholsterer said I needed 1 to 1 1/2 yards so I bought 2 yards to make sure there was enough to do the seats so the plaid would be symetrical and even with doing that I have a good bit left over. I believe the price was 95.00 a yard.

Thanks for the reply. I love the way your seats turned out. I bet you can't wait to get them installed.

It will look exactly like a brand new seat from the GM factory in '72.

CARS, Inc is the bomb for OEM type set covers...in factory as well as your own hybrid. I have them do saddle vinyl/herringbone '72 bucket seat covers in '91. They have been doing it forever and quality is of the best available. I'm glad to see a saddle plaid is available. My Sierra seat cover is starting to let go in one row of stitching. I was going to go with either green or orange plaid in saddle, depending on body color choice. But saddle makes that so simple. Time to start filling the piggy bank. The cover in my truck now is also from back in '91. The bucket covers I had made because they were custom and no bucket seat covers were offered, yet. The saddle bench cover I bought from Gary Terry when they first came out. It was in my camper hauler till '04 and now sits in my '72 K2500. I believe his were from CARS as well.

Re: 72 highlander seat cover

With respect to the seat offered by CARS Inc....it appears that model #24209 is the highlander white/blue seat? (or blue/white seat)...ie: white parchment which they call 'white walrus' for some reason.... and the blue houndstooth material.
This lists out at $419.00

However, does anyone know if the vinyl portion of their seat product has the scrolling in it?
(I've seen a few seats redone out there that are colour correct...but do not have the scrolling in them)

They don't have a lot of information on their seat products so it might be a bit of a crap shoot in terms of what actually arrives.

Anyone with any experience with this item....or is the highlander even available with them?

All good

Someone may be able to chime in specifically with the Highlander seat from Cars Inc., but in my experience with Cars Inc., their seat covers are usually exactly like the originals. Their Custom seat covers (with cloth inserts) have the scrolling vinyl. If you give em a call, they'll answer all your questions (I was just on the phone with them yesterday).

Good info.
I sent them a quick e-mail with the same question so we'll see if they respond. If not, I'll give them a call.
That said $419 sounds like a pretty good deal for a correct highlander seat cover.

Seeing as they use NOS material on their seat covers (when possible), I think it's definitely a good price. They're not always good on email. You may get a reply but you're better off calling.

...for those interested I contacted CARS Inc about their (Highlander) bench seat cover # 24209 and yes, as some of the guys pointed out... it does come with the scrolling and yes it is the blue/white plaid pattern.
This would be for the trucks needing the white/parchment seat with the blue/white plaid inset.
Pricing is $419.00....which seems very fair.

All good

Was this for a Suburban with a full sized second row?
Thanks

Re: 72 highlander seat cover

Always remember to get enough extra plaid material to make a matching sport coat and pants for when you are out and about with your highlander truck.
The ladies love it.......
