Re: Show us your SURVIVOR ENGINE pictures

My 69 in CST/20. All original at 118,713 miles. Picture taken during tear down process. That's masking tape on the left valve cover. Note that 3/4 tons did not have as much emissions equipment even though this was a California truck.

Re: Show us your SURVIVOR ENGINE pictures

The couple of posts above have me wondering if my truck is missing the emissions stuff. It is a C20 that was bought new in California, or so I think.

Should my 396 have emissions if it was from California?

See my post #26 above. My 69 is a C/20 built in Fremont and sold new in Brea near L.A. It's a 350 and has only a PCV valve and breather to carb hose. My understanding is that the 3/4 ton trucks did not have as stringent emissions requirements as the lighter duty trucks. I believe the requirements were based on GVWR.

Pretty much stock, truck has 60k on it, and it is the orignal block, Had one header and one rotted manifold so I fixed that. It does have edelbrock intake/carb/aircleaner, but it was like that when I picked it up.

Re: Show us your SURVIVOR ENGINE pictures

Before and after 68 C20 with 327, T400. I think 113,000 miles. Now 2005 5.3, 4L60e, that I can hook my laptop to and read every sensor and computer code and go buy the right part to fix without guessing, Just saying. I like both though. Jim

What is the pump on the passenger side and the other equipment on the driver's side?

Looks to me like hydraulics for a dump/tilt bed. That would be my guess anyway.

Looks to me, and judging by his location, it's the pump and valve body for an all angle Fisher snow plow. I had the same identical set in another truck.

This thread is a great idea by the way, I can't count how many times I went searching for pictures of engine compartments to fix something on other vehicles.

Re: Show us your SURVIVOR ENGINE pictures

This is what my 350 in my 1972 GMC 1500 Super Custom looked like before I yarded it out for a rebuild. Note the factory cruise control on the inner fender.

Re: Show us your SURVIVOR ENGINE pictures

Gasoline71: like your truck, but i don't think that's a factory cruise control, it looks like an add on we use to put on back in the 70's....but they worked real good, if i remember right they sold for $75.00 back then. the only thing that you had to buy extra was the speedo cables. upper and lower...
