Re: Killer

Woo Hoo !!!!

My Tri Pro order just came in
I looked everything over & there are NO dents !!!
The only thing I saw that looked like damage was a lil bend on a couple of the rockers corners & they arent bad at all

I super excited, I cant wait to install my rockers & get my fender on... I hope they fit as good as they look

Also had to cut the floor out for the high hump, cuz the trans was hitting & still needed to go up, so I sat it over the stock floor & spray painted a template

Re: Killer

Man there is nothing like new parts to get you moving on a build. I got a lot done back when I came home with my new fenders and core support. I have been slacking since then though. Your truck is coming along. Keep the pictures coming...

Re: Killer

Well guys, I tried to get my front end finished up today but it just didnt happen

First I found that I had the 1" rotors & not the 1-1/4" ones I need for the drop spindles, so I went out back & pulled off the 1-1/4" stuff I needed

Then I had to run to the parts store to get some seals, I get back & start put'n it together & it seams that my upper BJs are the wrong ones for these drop spindles

I had some other stuff that I ran into also, but not really worth mentioning

Heres the problem

More pics later

Re: Killer

Problem looks to be that the ball joint isn't threaded enough so the spindle isn't tight against the UCA.

Is it just the wrong ball joint?

In the first couple pics the BJs are just finger tight
When I tightened them down the upper A-arm is rubbing the top of the spindle

I think the upper BJ is just too small around & isnt seating in the spindle, so Ima go to the parts store & see if the spec a different one for 1-1/4" rotor applications

Ima double check on the lower, but it seemed just fine

Just FYI, I have all 73-87 front suspension under the front of my truck: 85 lower A-arms, 84 upper A-arms, 84 crossmember, 78 rotors & calipers & CPP 73-87 drop spindles

Re: Killer

ok, i forgot you were using 73-87.. I just got the 2.5/4 lowering kit with dropped spindles and rear lower springs, and i was concerned, but back on track now. The ball joints seem good on the donor 72 but will replace for good measuer. Keep up the work. its getting closer

Re: Killer

Did you buy 73+ drop spindles or 71/72 spindles?

You might want to try 71/72 ball joints?

What brand spindles did you buy? They don't look to be ECE, did you get a good deal on them?

I'm seriously considering lowerin' the c-10.

I ordered 73-87 2-1/2" drop spindles from CPP
I bought some new upper BJs for a 73-87, they have the same issue
So I went to my local parts store & had him bring out about 8 different BJs ranging from 63-70 to 3/4T stuff

The 71-72s were way too long, the 73-87s are too long, but better than the 71-72s, & the 63-70s were too short & had the wrong taper
And the 3/4T ones are just way too big

So we have called Mario at CPP several times today & dad is sending him some pics of the problem
