Cool - is this a kit intended for use on our trucks or will there be some fabricating?

Here it is in the box.... This particular sway bar has brackets that attaches to the bottom of the trailing arms with the rear of the sway bar just in front of the rear differential.

Re: Rear Anti-Sway bar arrived Friday...

Does it have noticeable improvement on the handling or ride quality? I thought about investing in a front anti sway bar. I heard the front is much more useful then the rear.

Re: Rear Anti-Sway bar arrived Friday...

ChevyDude, Is that grease on the table cloth?

J/K, I'm glad you posted, I've been looking for a rear sway bar for awhile, the rear axle jumps pretty hard around corners where the roads aren't perfect - there aren't many good roads around here. Don't know why I didn't think of JC Whitney? JC Whitney has them listed as fitting '63 - '70. I don't know why they wouldn't fit '71 & '72? $159 now, look to be $10 off, too. Part number ZX862751T.

Additional note: The front sway bar the part number has an extra digit ending in "F" which means it is shipped from the factory. May be left off the rear's part number?

Re: Rear Anti-Sway bar arrived Friday...

Well, this kit 7401-UNPAINT came from Summit:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

$122.39

They actually they sent me the "black" powdercoated kit that they sell for $179.79, cause it's definately black ........but, not for long, a quick scuff and she's Red...LOL! I've been waiting on this kit for over a month. Just checked they only charged me $122.39. The black powdercoat will be a good primer, LOL! They probably got sick of this being on back order and just told Hellwig to send out the PC version???

Here is the black painted link from Summit:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

It just wouldn't be right if it didn't match the front sway bar...would it ???

Re: Rear Anti-Sway bar arrived Friday...

I put a 1 1/4 " Front Sway Bar on my truck last year and it was the best thing I did for the truck. I could immediatly feel the difference.

My thinking has been I was going to do a 3 1/2 front ( 2 1/2 Drop Spindle with 1" drop coil ) and 5" rear drop on my truck but lately have been thinking maybe I'll leave it stock height and put a rear sway bar and some new Monroe Sensa Trac shocks and an ECE close ratio steering box which I was going to do with the drop anyway. I'll cap this off with 17 x 8 rims with American Racing 200S Alloys and I'm hoping these items will have as much a positive effect on my truck as did the front sway bar.

So I too am very curious to see how the rear sway bar feels on your truck and would love to see install pics which actually make a great FAQ..

Re: Rear Anti-Sway bar arrived Friday...

Pre install assembly, ...will bolt in the morning!

In this first pic you can see the brackets for the forward mount layed out in front of the sway bar. The "L" shaped brackets go inside the truck frame rail, but are reversed as you see them in the picture. Meaning they go just as they are but you must rotate them 180 degrees so the "L" part of the bracket is on top of the lower frame rail and up tight against the vertical section of the frame. The straight bracket actually has a slight curve and lip the fits under the frame, these two brackets sandwich the frame. Then the attached silver forward angled bracket bolts to the two frame sandwiched brackets. Check the pics below. I am explaining this because the Hellwig instructions are terrible!

Re: Rear Anti-Sway bar arrived Friday...

I did a search online and this Sway Bar is really supposed to minimize body roll on our coil spring trucks. The people that have installed it were very pleased as it does wonders for the rear of our trucks in the corners! The bar weighs 36 lbs and is plenty stout....I think I'm gonna like it!!!

Alex,Thanks for taking the time to post these pics with detailed directions!. Everything looks awesome on your truck. Is there any drilling involved with this installation?

Thank You!!!! I appreciate it!

NO drilling at all, Nada Nothing!!!. The way they engineered the brackets (pre sprung) and grade 5 bolts...there is no way it's going anywhere. I guy with a welder could tack it inplace if he felt so inclined.

Re: Rear Anti-Sway bar arrived Friday...

Here you go! Still need to square it up and tighten the bolts...but I think it looks as if it belongs!!! It could make a challenge for the exhaust but mine will exit in front of the rear wheels , so it should not interfere.

Re: Rear Anti-Sway bar arrived Friday...

I was under my truck yesterday when I was getting the trans serviced and looking where the rear sway bar would clamp. With the combo of your pics and seeing where the bar attaches ( the frame and trailing arms), this may be a dumb question but wouldn't attaching the sway bar to the farme and trailing arms restrict the the up and down movement of the trailing arms therefore making the ruck ride a lot harsher?
