mechanical to electrical gauge switch

I am thinking on switching from mechanical to electrical gauges when I get new gauges. How hard is it to switch from a mechanical oil pressure and water temp gauge to electrical ones? I am trying to have as little holes in my fire wall as possible.

As simple as swappimg the gauges and sending units and doing a little wiring....but your still going to have holes in the dash for the wires to go thru.

Re: mechanical to electrical gauge switch

thanks. I already have a hole for the wires. I just don't want such a large hole for everything else but I am still weighing my options.

You won't gain much by going electric unless you just want to clean up the firewall and reroute the wiring in a different direction. A lot easier with electrical wiring.

Re: mechanical to electrical gauge switch

I am planning on getting new gauges already because I had my truck repainted and the old gauges no longer mach the color scheme. Right now I have one hole for the wires and tow holes for the e-brake cable, oil pressure line, speedometer and water temp. I only want one hole but the tip of the spedo cable and the water temp line will not fit through that hole. So I either need to make that hole bigger or get electrical gauges.
