Air Cleaner
I feel a bit stupid posting this, but - - -
I have a 350 in my 71 Jimmy with an early 50's air cleaner. An original one, not a reproduction and no adapter between it and the carb. Problem is, when I drive it the air cleaner spins/rotates clockwise (if that makes a difference). It turns until it hits the master cylinder, rubbing and damaging the air cleaner. Is there a simple cure for this? I have tightened it down as much as I dare and it still turns.

Re: Air Cleaner
What kind of stud are you using to secure it to the carb? Is it rotating with the air cleaner? is the whole thing turning or just the lid? Maybe a pic would help? I have used a dab of blue loctite to thread the air cleaner stud into the carb itself, I had one that tried to back out every time I wanted to take the lid off and it annoyed me, so that was my fix.

Re: Air Cleaner
Maybe a gasket between the carb and cleaner would help? Just a thought, good luck .

Re: Air Cleaner
Vibration was causing the wing nut on mine to come loose. I placed a small rubber washer I made from a rubber hose and have been able to keep it secured this way.
As mentioned above a pic and an explanation on what is turning -the top or whole unit - will help.

That was going to be my suggestion as well. Surprising how often that ring gasket is overlooked.

Re: Air Cleaner
I like the idea of a gasket. I'll try that. This site never lets me down.
Thanx to all.
