frame rotisserie on the cheap

After flipping the frame over on the cart a few times to prep for paint I knew it could be done better. Here's what I came up with and what I would do different. I wanted to use what I have as much as possible so the cherry picker & engine stand were first choice. Found a piece of pipe roughly same diameter as what's on stand and tacked it on the top square to post as it was pitched for weight of motor. tacked a few shims inside to get it tighter & drilled hole in top so I can lock in place. cut a 2x10 to fit in the frame and bolted it in. For the picker I found 2x2 square tubing fit inside perfectly so I got a trailer coupler from harbor freight ($10 +/-) welded a plate to the 2x2 and bolted the coupler to the plate as I may want it for something else later. I did a 45degree cut on the 2x2 to compensate for angle of boom. This is what I would do different, the plate (1/8") bent to plumb after a few rotations. So I would use the 2x2 in its place and do a 22.5 angle the 45 was too much. I then burnt a hole for the ball in a piece of angle and bolted that to a 2x4 bolted to the frame. So I have the cost of the coupler that's it everything else was laying around. It works great I can rotate it by myself. Hope this helps someone out.

Awesome Idea.
Thanks for sharing.
Keeping it simple in the first stages is a Great plan.
It allows a person to spend more time & money
on the finishing details that make the most difference.
Bravo

That trailer hitch is such a cool idea. I'm thinking with 2 cherry pickers, that idea could morph into a body rotisserie as well.
