Re: Do you Facebook, Twitter, etc?

I don't.....although I hear about it a lot.
A lot of people do it to keep in touch with their kids I think.
I would consider facebook....but given that I don't currently 'miss it' or really think about it much....I'm not immediately compelled to join it.
....definitely nope on the twitter, or instagram too.....

An important question for me would be 'Is it worth it?....and importantly....why?
noting that I have to have a good reason to expand my digital presence....lol

Hmm..

Re: Do you Facebook, Twitter, etc?

I just started FB about a year ago...I have mixed feeling about it....there is a lot of garbage, "National Enquirer" stuff ...but I have been able to re-connect with some long lost friends and relatives.....

there are some good pages dedicated to 67-72 Chevy trucks, Blazers...etc.....I have sold a lot more stuff on those FB sites than I ever have on this one....just my 2¢....

Re: Do you Facebook, Twitter, etc?

I have facebook, but only to keep up with friends/family. Outside of that, I don't post/like/poke/etc. at all on facebook, and I especially avoid the 67-72chevytrucks facebook page which is usually filled with a lot of junk comments from some people who know nothing about these trucks.

The one social media outlet I regularly use is Instagram because there is a large group of truck enthusiasts and builders who don't seem to have the patience/time to post here on the forum, but are very active on Instagram. A lot of them are flaky though and never reply to comments or questions; they are just posting for the likes and recognition, but it is the only way I've found to keep up with who's building what in the full custom truck scene.

Re: Do you Facebook, Twitter, etc?

Why does everyone feel the need to share their lives ? No twit ,no insta info , no face book to my every thought , When is the last time you wrote a card or letter ? used actual mail ? Talked instead of tweetered ? Throw the electronic hand held communication / tracking device away ! I don't really care what you had for dinner , None of my business what your relationship status is ! When is the last time you actually talked to a vendor to buy parts ? Life does not revolve around some hand held device ! Anyone ever notice the guys with the most up to date hand held communication junk don't have a wife or girlfriend ?

Re: Do you Facebook, Twitter, etc?

Nope. I don't own a smart phone either.I don't like being easy to find and I really don't like others being able to find out about me with a few google searches...
For that matter I am vary selective about what I post about myself on forums like this and the others I use.

LOL, I don't even know how to find the facebook page my drummer set up for our band. Even better is I'm not listed as a member.

Instagram, Twitter, and of course my Youtube channel (/shameless plug)

I dislike twitter so I don't use it but I have an active account. I actively hate Facebook and avoid it at all costs. Also, they have the worst info sharing disclosure practices.

Re: Do you Facebook, Twitter, etc?

I don't know how someone can have time for Twitter or FB and not for here. You can come here every so often and find more than the just the latest posts. This place goes in depth, it seems those can't. Just post a little blip and it's way down south in no time. Just a steady stream of hollow content is what I see. You'd have to be there constantly to keep up with anything. I guess I answered my own question. If they are on those places how could they have time for here? Oh and BTW, I had Corn Flakes this morning with 2% milk and 17 blue berries on it. I used up the last of my expresso roast coffee yesterday, so today I got into the Costa Rica. Mmmm... not as strong but strong enough. Shoot! I had meme picked out and now I can't find it. Check back in 5 minutes and I'll tell you how dinner was. I'll leave you hanging on what I had for lunch. Please click "Like" if you drank coffee today

Re: Do you Facebook, Twitter, etc?

The first time I received a text message from my 80 year old dad I was shocked. The next thing I know he's asking me why he didn't see me on fb. Who is this guy? He was no techy. I told him not to hold his breath waiting to see me on fb. He said it's a good way to keep up with family and friends. I said exactly! I don't want to keep up with family and friends and certainly don't want them keeping up with me. I'm not antisocial, I just require some measure of privacy. People can be too close.

Re: Do you Facebook, Twitter, etc?

I love FB mainly because I can stay in contact with my Grandkids. The ones in Florida PM me and we talk in the mornings before school. They know I get up early and that at 5 am I usually read my newspaper. I belong to many different closed groups and most have the same type of rules here. Don't do Instagram or Twitter Hell I can't even get on the Internet with my Smart Phone.

Re: Do you Facebook, Twitter, etc?

Facebook and I are at odds on the definition of "Friend", and how one achieves "Friend" status.

I use it, not often. Most of my "Friends" either don't use it at all, or use it very little.

I got tired of all the religious and political comments on FB. That’s what I like about this forum, you can ask about radiation therapy, your dogs surgery or whether to move your gas tank without the vitriol. At least most of the time.

Re: Do you Facebook, Twitter, etc?

I got an account to keep up with my kids. But they both un-friended me.

I guess they don't want me to know what they're doing.

So, I don't use it anymore.

My wife was telling me she got an email from Facebook with suggestions of people she might want to "Friend'

One of them was my ex wife. No,I don't think so.

Yeah, their info gathering model leaves much to be desired. I get offered to be friends with my x's new hubby. What the heck. We can be friends on FB, first time I see him I'll deck him, but that's different. It shouldn't affect or friendship on FB, right? . ?

Re: Do you Facebook, Twitter, etc?

I joined FB to keep up with what our kids and grandkids are up to. Then I discovered groups and have notice many truck questions that use to come through here. I've met some good folks, much like here, and it is much easier to post comments and pictures there.

What Facebook isn't good at is documenting a build or allowing searches for technical questions. There can be a lot of content I don't want to see, so I simply block those chronic offenders. My feed is pretty much family or car stuff now.

I don't do Twitter and Instagram I don't really understand.

Re: Do you Facebook, Twitter, etc?

Absolutely use Facebook. It has made me thousands of dollars doing gauge cluster work as does this site.

You just have to be discipline on what you are doing. It is easy to get caught up in all the BS but I can filter all of it and use Facebook as a tool for my business.

It has a purpose for everyone I think but if you want to post your meal and only half of your friends make a comment about it, I am not sure what to tell you.

It has also brought me back in touch with several friends that I have lost contact with over the years.

I really love arguing with know it all's on FB too. Just kidding, its all what you make it.

And yes, as far as 67-72 truck information goes, this is the best place to be.

I don't see why not. Most people on FB don't even know their friends. How can you have 10,000 friends? Punch him out and then send him a picture of what you had for dinner. It'll be fine.

I told my wife to friend my ex Only because I thought it would be entertaining to watch the cat fight.

I'd just have to remember my password.

By the way. Here's what I had for dinner. I know everybody's really interested.
