Re: 68 pro touring, auto cross c10 (mid life crisis)

finally ready to weld floor in the other night, fitting the rockers and the inner rocker is 3/16" shallower then stock. DOORS DONT CLOSE! thanks so. ky. nice stuff your having stamped. had to cut and roll a new REPLACEMENT FLOOR to fit the rockers. what a piece of junk. will never do again. have drivers side in ready to weld in rocker later tonight or tomorrow. my friend kelly's been doing all nighters all week trying to fix this thing. sorry if i seam irritated, i have almost $500 into this floor + 60+ hrs of labor. who makes the dies for these things? if you are building tooling, build it right so it fits and charge more for quality.

Can't wait to see this when its done, your doing everything i wish i could do to mine, love your garage too. I feel you pain about the floor, i had the same problem when i replaced my cab corners, rockers and part of my floor on the driver side. Nothing fit right, you spend more time making everything fit it very frustrating.

Great pictures to have.

The pictures of my girls out working on the cars with me are the ones I treasure the most.

Nice work, that really stinks about the floor. I wonder if all of them are made by one stamper and they all don't fit right?

My wife and I always told ourselves we just saw the "potential" of the things we looked at, such as our house, my beater jimmy etc. I was never bold enough to consider myself as a visionary, but I like it.

She likes to also say that if we ever split up, I'd live in the garage. I tell her I'll get one big enough to park an RV in, but I like the upstairs apartment better. A mechanic friend has one around the corner from my house. He rents out the apartment and works downstairs. He lives about half a mile away.

I've seen enough builds now attempting to use that whole floor replacement to know I won't ever try it. Seems everytime it takes way more work than the regular patches would have needed and weeks or months go by, rather than a few days.

Re: 68 pro touring, auto cross c10 (mid life crisis)

i know this isnt part of the build, but. this is 1972, i was two years old and the old house was my great, great grandparents, we lived in the trailer. LOOK IN THE DRIVEWAY. that was my first truck when i was 9 or 10. it had factory buckets, tilt, tach and a 4spd. it was a green/teal color with black interior. i drove around the farm for a couple summers until i learned about the other gears. 2,3,4. came home from school and it was missing shortly after. everybody is still tight lipped about its whereabouts.

Re: 68 pro touring, auto cross c10 (mid life crisis)

still fighting this foolish floor. kelly had it welded front and rear, and the cab corner would not line up perfect. so apart it came. the floor is 3/16-1/4" to short front to rear. it never ends!! have alot of metal finishing to do later, try to keep filler to a minimum.
