Re: Rod Run

I’m glad to see someone posting the positive side o the “Rod Run”, and I really hope those who attended had a good time.
I live 15 miles East of PF, and if one were to believe the media coverage, it was a drunken debacle with guns involved
Those who came to attend the Run were the enthusiasts that respect others and share the common love of beautiful cars and trucks.
Then there are those who come just to treat the weekend like Spring Break and deliberately cause trouble.
The reports I’m getting are despicable, even if they were HALF true.
I sincerely hope that the promoters of the Rod Run don’t stop holding the event, but something HAS to be done to stop these delinquents from ruining it for everyone. Their chosen actions and antics are both DANGEROUS and DISRESPECTFUL to others.
Seeing what these clowns are “Getting Away” with today, with the sagged trucks, flashing light, Drag racing on crowded streets, stereos so loud that the drown out Emergency Vehicles, is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!
I remember when I was a kid, getting “pulled over” one night back in 1982, because the “Red Light” in my Hood Scoop could be seen by oncoming traffic (it was cool, I had a red light hooked to the coil, it would get bright or dimmer with the engine RPM. My Hot Rod Buddies loved it), because the PO said “it could be mistaken for an Emergency Vehicle.” What the Hell is going on nowadays?

Ok, I’m done

Ok, I’m done

I puchased a golf cart to ride the strip.

I rode the strip last year with that cart.

I was told the rules have changed for carts.

I hope to go to the Fall show. Without the cart.

I enjoy walking the strip / Because I had Great conversations with Chevy Truck owners

Re: Rod Run

We had a good time and i did see alot of squatted trucks and imports, not that theres anything wrong with it but not my cup of tea. I did see alot of nice hot rods and trucks. Most everyone i spoke to was very respectful and really nice, but i did have a problem finding somewhere to park and was told to move several times. We did have trouble trying to get anywhere in our vehicles because of all the traffic but that was to be expected.

As for the fight at the gas station that lead up to more serious things, I agree that shouldn't have happened at all and as usual the media will blow everything up and make it look like it was total kaos. For the amount of people that was there and a select few that was wanting to cause trouble it was actually a really calm event as far as that goes. I didn't see anything bad going on myself, and everywhere we went it was a family friendly event.

All and all, we had a pretty good time!

Re: Rod Run

Not to be a grumpy old fart but my wife and I left early because
you just couldn't go anywhere..the sidewalk was nothing but a scooter
train...we said the need to call it the scooter run instead of the rod run.
If you are older and/or are legitimately disabled then by all means ride
one..but if you're 20 and just to damn lazy to walk then stay home!!
We enjoy the shows at Maggie a lot more since it's a smaller crowd
On a positive note I did get 13.8 mpg driving from SC to TN in my survivor
1972 4x4 SB 😁

This is happening everywhere at big shows . I tried to rent a scooter for my mom at the Syracuse nationals because the motor went on hers. No dice all rented out for the weekend and all I saw was young people riding around doing stupid crap in them . Same with the Carlisle truck nationals saw a 20 something flip a scooter on its side trying to ride two wheels while 3 or 4 of his buddies laughing.Of course it was a rental scooter.

I think they should ask for a handicapped car placard or some other proof of disability to rent one.

Looks like it was a good show in spite of the idiots.
