Cerium oxide. Keep it wet and keep it moving.

But you're probably going to be disappointed. Polishing the glass is a very slow process and only removes the very lightest blemishes. If you can catch a scratch or pit with a fingernail polishing won't remove it.

I used glass polish and metal polish, and 0000 steel wool (lightly). As truckster mentioned, keep it wet.
