Hubcaps and wheel size

I have a 70 GMC that is 5 lug. I have been looking at the trucks with 20 or 22 inch steelies and they look really good. My main option to go with that look would be detroit steel wheels. But i have seen some trucks that have what look like original hubcaps and then have 20 inch steelies. How are they attaching their hubcaps when they are meant for 15 in or 15.5 in wheels? Im interested in the full 15 inch caps and not the dog dish. Maybe im wrong and they are not putting them on 20 in wheels.

Re: Hubcaps and wheel size

If you tell Detroit what caps your using they'll drill & install clips for that cap, $20.00 per wheel.

Re: Hubcaps and wheel size

I guess Dtroit Steel has come along and changed the definition of what steelie means. It's the nickname that was given to factory and factory-type steel wheels back when a wheel was a wheel and they all took hubcaps or wheelcovers. Everything else is a styled steel wheel, and most have their own trade name/nickname.

Re: Hubcaps and wheel size

I have 22" steel wheels with stock '68 caps on my truck. I'm using the Mobsteel cap clips to hold them on.

If I read your post correctly you are asking about adapting the stock full wheel covers onto the larger steel wheels? I've thought about trying that too but couldn't figure a good way to mount them. I've looked at A LOT of trucks with stock dog dish caps on larger wheels, but have never seen one with the full wheel covers. The only thing similar to that out there right now are full custom wheels designed to look like the full wheel covers. They are NICE but you better be ready to give up your life's savings for them...

Yes. The last two are full custom wheels by Delmo's. They are available for purchase but there is no real stock of them. They are made to order and there are very few sets out there right now.
