Cab Swap

While I was looking for the elusive S10 Grill Bowtie at the local Pull A Part today I found a 73 swb stepside 2wd. Cab is rotted out on the bottom, rear axle gone & front cap is almost gone. One good door. But bed is nice, no wood though. I have an 85 cab & front cap at home & a 73 Blazer that is rusted down. Here is enough parts to put together a swb stepper 4wd!
Question is will the cab bolt up to the existing cab mounts or would they need swapping from the 85? I still have the whole 85 truck it is wrecked on the front frame horns.
Thanks

Re: Cab Swap

cabs mount points are the same for truck cabs . 73-87 . just use body mount kit for the year of the frame .

if talking about using the blazer frame and making a TRAZZER then its easy . core support and front mounts line up with truck cab on blazer frame . rear cab mount is a simple lift bracket to make out of c-channel . then shorten the bed down and bolt it on with few mods .

Re: Cab Swap

Yes super simple swap. Cabs are identical in the mounting department. What SweetK30 said on using mounts for frame year and not cab year.

Re: Cab Swap

Hey I notice on the LMC that the doors have a break in year about 1973 -76 & another part # for '77 up.
Whats the difference in the doors early to late?
Thanks

Re: Cab Swap

Pretty sure the difference is the Door panels. You'd need to match the panels to the year door. Other than that I don't think there is a difference. There are smarter people out there so we'll get it straight.

Re: Cab Swap

The door shell changed to accommodate power window mechanisms, coincided with door panel change. There are no factory power window mechanisms for 73-76, '77 and later.
