New 81 Scottsdale, whats up with the interior?

Hi Guys,
I just bought a 1981 Scottsdale! I am really impressed with the condition, it has not been repainted or restored, the only rust I can find (even with it on the lift) is a spot the size of a dime in the bed. there is a bit of surface grunge on the roof but not structural! What is really baffling me is the interior, The dash pad is a beautiful light tan and the door panels are the same, I cannot find any reproductions the same color, the Saddle color offered is much darker than what the truck has! Any suggestions????

Those are pics I found that represent the color. I don't think its custom, it is identical to my buddy's factory dash. The SPID is still there in perfect shape, ill take pics tonight!

ohhhh. I didn't catch that pic wasn't your truck...what I'm talking about is the shape of the dash..look at the shape of it to the right of the instrument panel..your pic has a drastic slope to it... mine has more of a shelf to it..
may have to wait on Seymore to step in and clear the air...he'll probably know

When it comes to the Saddle, it comes in Light or Dark. Well I should clarify, the pad is lighter than the door panels.

Try Cheyenne Pickup Parts. Call them before you order and talk to Henry about color/shade.

I believe there is a vendor on this site and USA1 has dash pads too. They have the dark. Let me see if I can find the vendor.

That almost looks like Buckskin or Parchment. Wonder if it was redone at some point? But the SPID would be of great help.

You are correct; the "sloped" version is '73-'80; the flat version is '81 and beyond.

This looks a little too smooth, which makes me also wonder if it has been painted (which would wash out the grain a bit).

To be honest I don't remember GM having a dash pad that light in color. We tend to design dash pads in the darker colors in an attempt to control how much they get reflected back onto the windshield. Take a white sheet of paper and lay it on the dash and you will see what I mean.

I say all this to say you might prefer the darker pad, even though it might not be technically "correct". I suspect I would.
