Older GM tilt column shift column

I currently have a Summit tilt column in my 55.2 LQ4 4l80E C4 suspension. I want to use a better column (used gm one for lower cost) and also go to column shift.
The summit column has a DD output, I can convert this with whatever u joint.

There is a 1985 Chevy truck column nearby. Would this work ok as far as with the 4L80E? I guess I would need a cable type linkage?
