Not sure where to put this

I got my first vintage gas pump yesterday. I can see where this would be a consuming hobby. We went on a southwest USA tour last year, and fell in love with all the old route 66 memorabilia. This thing was crazy dirty before i cleaned it up.....with squirrels living in it.....Check it out.

Just a good clean up. And I'll locate a globe for the top, I got all the electric lights working today. We're going to do a route 66 theme on the back deck......reminds us of our trip to Arizona last year.

Yeah, I should have been more specific.

I know where it's going, just not where this thread should be.

Re: Not sure where to put this

Cool find! If memory serves correct, (and it often doe's not these days) there was a glass bulb sight window in that small round area. It allowed you to see the flow of gasoline via a series of cups that rotated within the bulb...? Ethyl was short for, Tetraethyllead, an additive used to raise octane ratings.

Re: Not sure where to put this

Just an update if you're interested in this kind of stuff. I built a gas station that also serves as a storage shed. I also converted my old storage shed into a workshop with a General store look. Pretty happy with everything so far. I found while cleaning up the gas pump that the original color and design was hiding underneath. Looks much better now IMO.

Hey Jay. Ol Ethyl cleaned up real good. You've got your own little stop n the road in your back yard. Old coolness right there. Watch your speed though. That looks like speed trap.

38 cents a gallon. I'll be right over. I'm loving the storage shed/gas station idea. It's got me thinking...Hmmm. It's never good when I start thinking, at least not for my wallet.
