Re: Need utility body help 1967-72. Truck I just picked up

I didn't read the whole thread, but you don't know what brand the body is? These companies keep replacement parts. The bodies aren't year specific, or even brand. If you can't identify the maker or if they no longer supply the exact door and other parts, you can buy any other brand door as close if not the same size. If different you can alter that.

There are no markings on the body anywhere. If I could figure that out I would have one hell of a jump start on my quest. Going to make some calls tomorrow to random body companies and get a feel for what they can get \ make. I found the truck smashed and there were no doors... So kinda starting with nothing.

Thank you all for the replies

Re: Need utility body help 1967-72. Truck I just picked up

I have this one. It had a locked up 327 when I bought it. I installed a 350 and put a small base Rochester 2 bbl carb on it. licensed and insured it. turned out to have 456 rear gears and guzzled gas. So I parked it.

Re: Need utility body help 1967-72. Truck I just picked up

They probably already have the doors. I have bought parts to repair my Reading boxes. I priced a whole replacement side for the low profile body I had on a truck that got wrecked. That wheel opening should be available, unless they look different now.

Its the same height, comes up to the back of the cab in the same spot as yours. It’s on a lifted K truck so it appears taller.

It’s configured differently, but it sits at the same height. Either way it goes to scrap if someone doesn’t buy it soon

UPDATE . Doors are being made and got all the lights to work. I didnt know they made some "side markers" as reflectors only ... Was that a C20/c30 thing?

I think that that is a thing done with truck that came as a cab and chassis, like the service body truck you have, or a flat bed added after delivery to the customer. I do not recall seeing lights on service body sides, only stop and tail at the ends; there may well have been, but I don't recall that.

Looking good! '68 and '69 had reflectors. Later in '69 came the lights. There is an "A" side and a "B" side option on utility beds. Horizontal box can run all the way back over top of the rear side bin with a short door or runs to the rear side bin with a full height door. Most come through standard with an A/B combination. That's how I always ordered mine and the ones I bought used were like that

I figured I'd jump in.
I just got this '68 from California. It apparently spent it's life in Arizona (as a plumber's truck).

The SPID shows it came as "Cab & Chassis" so I believe the Utility ("Servis" brand) was installed early on.

(Nevada tags since I'm leaving it there for the time being : )
