Quickie road trip this weekend.

My brother and I are running down to Reno to pick up some buckets I bought from mrtoni here on the board. Its approximately 1500 mile round trip. Taking off from my place around two pm tomorrow and probably just drive straight through.

Been awhile since Ive road tripped with my brother. He used to be one of our Bonneville Speed Week road trip crew, but he faded off along with the rest and Ive done it myself the last few times Ive gone.

I figured it might be one or two hundred more bucks driving down and back vs shipping. The extra money spent will be worth the hang out time with my bro.

Of course Im not discounting the possibility of saying ... You know we could just spend the night here in Reno, how much could that set us back? LOL!

We could be back home Sunday morning or Sunday evening late =)

Re: Quickie road trip this weekend.

I have been off work due to a torn up knee, and took my boy to Reno over the summer for our road trip. Look up trip advisor, and do some research. Reno is a bit sketchy, and a good hotel buffet is a great treat.

Also you can see the Summit Racing catalog place, and visit the stains on the ground where the Roadkill guys swapped engines. I also bought some parts for a friend's project so he could avoid taxes, and large item shipping to a dock. He gave me the money to do it so we had a great time there, and he saved quite a few dollars too.

While I was buying stuff I told my son he had to be a plumber now since I just spent his college fund. That didn't go over well since he said he wanted to be a paleontologist.

Road trips are great fun - especially if going for a car or truck or car or truck parts. Have a great time!

Ill snap a couple of pics on the way down, but its going to be dark a lot of the time lol. Usually when you drive straight through buddy system you get plenty of sleep, not when my brothers driving Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Nobody sleeps haha!

I just texted Matt ... Hes gonna update the weather report. I don't wanna drive in snow. After last winter Im over it.

Re: Quickie road trip this weekend.

Picked up the seats from Matt ... He has some very cool rides! He is just a few minutes from Reno. My brother wants to walk around for a half hour or so. We are going to cut across to Sacramento and head home that way. Circular routes are more fun.

We’ll have to meet for burgers another time, sorry!

Re: Quickie road trip this weekend.

I stopped at a gas station just off the exit to Weed back in July of this year and got gas @ 4.69 a gallon ,,then drove on a bit into the small town of Weed and gas was $3.49 or close to it .from there we went on to Klamath Falls ....

That's board member mrtoni (Matt). Really cool guy. Wish I had more time to hang out at his place. He had kiddo duty, and we were on a rush trip.

We actually got home about 12:15 this morning .... zoom zoom haha!
