hickey sidewinder winch value? synthetic line?

What is the value for a hickey sidewinder winch, mount to a 73-78 k5 blazer, controls, electrical parts and original manual? It was pulled from a 76 K5 and had been in it since new. The mount has a guard and bolts to factory holes in the frame. It is missing the knob and rod used to control it tru the grill which was accidentally left in it before the truck was parted. Also can this winch run synthetic line? It looks to be in good condition.

In the Midwest, I would say it is a great buy at $500 and and great sale price would be $850. IMHO, Bruce

Any winch can run a synthetic line you just need to sand the drum down so its nice and smooth and change out the fair lead on the winch.Reason you do this the steel cable is rough and can rough up the drum and fair lead,While the rope is softer and needs everything smooth or it can damage the rope. And using the rope most come with a sliding sleeve on it for rocks and sharp stuff make sure you use that in the rough stuff or you can damage/break the rope.

Re: hickey sidewinder winch value? synthetic line?

I just picked up a 1972 Blazer and it has a Hickey Sidewinder winch on an after market front bumper.

I would prefer a cleaner mount - is there any info about a behind the front bumper mount?

Also any owners manual or service manual for it available in pdf?

thanks in advance

Reno - I attempted to attach two PDF's to this reply, but was prevented due to file size. I have an official installation PDF and an official electrical PDF, so if you DM me with your email address I'd be happy to pass them along to you. It was through the generous help of others on this board that I got them in the first place, so it's my duty to keep them going.

Re: hickey sidewinder winch value? synthetic line?

I wonder if you might be able to help a guy out! I have a Hickey Sidewinder for my 1975 Blazer but have been unable to find the mounts/skidplates to install it.

Could you send me a sketch of yours or if interested would you sell the entire assembly?

I really would appreciate your time!

Thanks,
