Need input on drivetrain dilemma/Poll
Ok here we go. I have a 72 K5 Blazer that is in need of general restoration. First I want to decide on the drivetrain. I already have a good running GM Goodwrench 350 replacement engine. The Blazer is going to be daily driven to get me to work and back, cruise around town, tow a sandcar, tow a couple of jet skis and maybe burn a few ricers here and there. It's going to have an 8" Skyjacker lift and 35x14.5x15 SSR's 15x14 Weld Outbacks. Here are the options I'm currently looking at (I'm keeping the 205 on all);
1. 5.7LS1/4l60e 2. 6.0LQ9 or 6.0LQ4/4l60e 3. Goodwrench350wTPI/700r4 Here's the categories I've come up with and how I've ranked each combo so far. Cheapest- 1.Goodwrench 2.6.0LQ 3.5.7LS1 Horsepower- 1.5.7LS1 2.6.0LQ 3.Goodwrench Torque- 1.6.0LQ 2.5.7LS1 3.Goodwrench Wow Factor- 1.5.7LS1 2.6.0LQ 3.Goodwrench Fuel Efficiency- 1.5.7LS1 2.6.0LQ 3.Goodwrench Durability- 1.Goodwrench 2.6.0LQ 3.5.7LS1 Maintenance- 1.Goodwrench 2.6.0LQ 3.5.7LS1 Upgradability- 1.6.0LQ 2.Goodwrench 3.5.7LS1 Weight- 1.5.7LS1 2. 6.0LQ 3.Goodwrench Upgrade Price- 1.Goodwrench 2.6.0LQ 3.5.7LS1 What do you guys and gals think? Yeah the 4l80e is still a consideration but adapting it to a 205 is a pain. Plus I wanted to keep the combos even so I could get some input on engine selection. As far as money not being a problem, let's just say I'm not rich but thanks to ebay I've found some pretty good deals on the 6.0 and 5.7. Keep the info coming guys.

I have a 205 behind a 4l80e and it was actulaly pretty easy to do. The bolt pattern on the back of them is the same as a th400 so you can use the transfer case adapter for a th400 on them. The only thing you have to do is machine 1/16 of an inch off the the ring on the adapter that sticks in the back of the transmission. You just need the right lengh input shaft for the 205.
