sway bar ID help please

does anyone know the ID and history of this rear sway bar? i removed it from a 68 leaf spring c20 and it seems to be original. i can't find any info on it anywhere. i don't know if it was factory or accessory. all i have is the chassis so no spid. brackets are part #328156.

Re: sway bar ID help please

I do not know the answer but am subscribing as I'd like to know if there was a factory rear sway bar option.

Re: sway bar ID help please

I'm no expert but here's what I know:

I have a 1976 GMC K25 camper special & found a rear sway bar (matching yours), on Craigslist. The doner truck was the same as mine (76' GMC camper special) except it was 2wd, had a 454/t400, & the deluxe camper special RPO.

My SPID was missing from my truck so I don't know which RPO my truck was born with.

I do have the SPID from the other truck & it doesn't list a rear sway bar on it so I'm guessing the rear sway bar was part of the deluxe C/S RPO (Z83 - DLX. CAMPER SPEC. CH).

I hope this info has helped. I bolted the set up on my truck, & with the addition of new bushings on my front bar, my truck handles like a lowered dually!!

I bought this bar and I'm having a hard time finding new bushings for it.

Such a thing was available, and the bushings are available here, for one example-

Re: sway bar ID help please

My sway bar diameter is 1-1/8", & I went with greaseable bushings from Energy Suspention. P/n 9.5164R.

I bought them @ the local Pep boys for $20. Pep boys also carries the round bushing kit that attaches to the ends of the bar.

NoHere are the stock and replacement bushings. The stock are larger than the replacements and the mounting bracket holes on the replacements don't line up with the stock type.

So with the #1 stamped on the bushings means the bar has a 1 inch diameter.
