Re: 1941 chevy project

lowmojo68, I'm workin' on building a '46 on an '86 S-10 longbox frame. They track a little narrower than the original truck, and about an inch or so longer wheelbase. I'm going to use painted Corvette style rallye wheels with an offset to bring the tire to the outside a little further, but still have it tucked under the fender, to retain the original (at-a-glance) look. For keeping the original frame, I think a Nova or Chevelle (up to '84) clip will work okay, although I've heard of a couple folks using the front part of an s-10 frame, cut at the point where the width equals the frame width of the project vehicle. Ford 9" rear ends are popular choices for street rods because of their relative easiness to narrow. Although, I'll likely stick with either a stock S-10 or a Chevelle rear end for my truck. From the pics it looks like you got yourself a good project. I've had mine for several years and it's taken quite awhile to round up enough parts to really have a good start. These years aren't near as easy for parts availability as many of the other truck years, although I'd imagine you'll have less of a challenge in your part of the country than we do where I'm located. Hope this helps...
