'Betty Jane' 72 Survivor

These are getting harder to find even though they made gazillions of them. 1972 Plain Jane / Black Betty = 'Betty Jane'.
250-1 bbl 3 OT with a 3.07 rear gear, power nothing.
This is by far the most original, rust free truck I've seen. Has light surface rust in the paint that should clean up nicely.
Here's some pics...

Very nice truck , if you find an extra Dog Dish cap like it currently has I need one or 2 badly . I would just clean that one and drive as is .

Hard to beat an good original, they don't need much. But, if it was mine, the aftermarket rear bumper would be swapped out for an original factory rear step bumper and red paint on wheels would be stripped off and repainted correct GM white. I personally don't care for the car style PO1 full wheelcovers even if the SPID said it was built with them. I would go for some very good original painted "dog dish" caps ( white with black trim and blue bow tie )

This. Is. The. Truth.

I would in no way tell another man what to do with his property. Still, the number of original trucks is finite and shrinking. I wish more owners would keep that in mind.

Mine came the same way, but a 4:11 rear, put in a 3.07 or 3.08 rear (can't remember which it was now) with a V-8 auto.

My advise would be to insert the key and enjoy the heck out of it while you ponder all the possibilities...or just leave it as is.

Cool truck!

That would be the worst thing you could do to it ! I'd spend some serious time cleaning and detailing it from top to bottom to preserve exactly what it is and has been for 46 years !

That is a really nice truck. I'd have to do a non-invasive air conditioning install.

Yeah, I would go with painted white bumpers (non-step on rear) and repaint those wheels white also. And keep the bright dog dishes. Very nice find..

Re: 'Betty Jane' 72 Survivor

Betty Jane and not Black Betty?? She's a Betty and she's all black! Cool truck. I can't find anything close around here. Just what I need, a good driver. I'd slap thise wheelcovers on lickity split. That'll be the look right there. Old man truck, narrow whitewalls, wheelcovers, with a peak of red rim as an accent. The chrome front bumper is original, so makes more sense to keep it than downgrade to white.
