Hello all,

Some of you may know me, most may not. So I'm going to start this thread dedicated to my 72 since I never did way back when.

My father bought this 72 C-10 when I was about three years old. He needed something to get back and forth from work, which it could barely do when he bought it. It was a blue and white two tone, longbed truck, but it was our truck and I instantly fell in love. My father always told me we would fix it up together and when I turned 14, we started doing just that. The plan started out as paint, rebuild the motor, suspension work, refresh the interior etc, but that didn't last long. Next thing you know we decided it was going to be a shortbed, and well, that meant tearing it all the way down to the frame. Fast forward to my 16th birthday and it was done:

Torch Red Paint
5.5/4in drop
Frame off rebuild
355/350
Blazer tank

The following pics are how it looked after completion (about 12 years ago)










So that's how it looked for about 12 years, until we decided to call up Travis at Pro Performance.... He hooked us up with Porterbuilt components and Accuair management, new Boyds Welding tank, etc.. We ordered these parts about a year ago, but just now got them on. I must say, Travis at Pro Performance and Nate at Porterbuilt are stand up guys, and were just an email or text away, when we needed some assistance.

I've got my wheels and tires on order, but here are some pics after getting her bagged. I'll continually update this thread as we get stuff done to it etc.

Plates and cups in the front with 2.5" spindles. I'm wanting the PB control arms, so once I get those it will be stage 2 all around, and give me 2 or so more inches.

Do they polish up real nice? I'm going to attempt to polish them this weekend, I feel like they could shine a little more.

They polish up pretty good. Honestly I just use warm soapy water with a microfiber mitt and spend time drying them so they dont have water spots. That makes a big difference.

That is a sharp looking truck and the wheels look great. That red looks awesome. It doesn't look like you modified the bed for the c-notch/bags?

I'm not sure if you guys have ever tried the white bread flour trick but I'm just saying, this takes some serious time .. but it works.

Here's the story:

My best friend has about a 4-5yr old son. I love this little guy like he was my own BUT, he is a wild kid. He will straight up punch his friends in the mouth. He tackles his own team mates on the football field.. just the craziest kid I can possibly describe.

I had just bought some new Billet Specialties Heritage wheels. Still in the box / plastic wrap. My friend came over to hang out with us working on the truck and brought his son. The garage and all the tools wide open. I asked my buddy to come over and see my new wheels. Opened the box, pulled the plastic back and BLAM BLa Blam BLAMM .. a 4 way lug wrench lands INSIDE the box on TOP of my new $1,120 wheel. I about puked.

I used this method to bring the wheel back to life. There were 14 dents in the billet. Some were pretty nasty. I took 800 grit paper and worked my way up, literally sanding out the damage to my wheel. A tiny speck was 2-3" round spot when I got done. The wheel looked horrible. BUT -- I brought it back up to 3000 grit all the way around and polished it with a Power Cone and varying buff wheels.

The Mothers Billet polish works fellas. .. try some, you'll love it. It saved my wheel and I'm 100% sure it would help the Coys too. Before your tires are mounted it would be an excellent time to do it too. I spent two weeks on one wheel. about 50hrs invested.

My friend NEVER spanked, not so much as scolded him .. but I didn't say a word. He's just a kid and it's not my place to scold him, not saying that at all. Just a little bit of a story is all. It was crazy man.. I was SICK. .. but he's still my best friend. Honestly the wheel I fixed looked deeper and richer than the polish I got on the other one from Billet Specialties.

My experience,... that a "cast" centered wheel will never polish up like a true billet wheel.
CC69Rat's Billet Specialties Heritage wheels are a true billet wheel carved out with a CNC.
The Coys c57's and c5's are a cast centered wheel, like American Racing Torq Thrust II's and Salt Flat wheels.

A good polisher can get cast wheels to shine pretty nice. Just have to keep up on hand rubbing them. Someone who polishes on big rigs could probably point you in the right direction. Awesome looking truck by the way, can't wait to see it laid out.

Looks good. Those Coy's will really tie it all together. I was going to go with the C57s before I ran across a super deal on my Riddlers. Still may consider since I think my 18s look a little small.

Which air management kit did you go with? Also what air tank do you have? I'm looking to hide mine under the truck with my Boyd tank. My truck is a stepside so I'm limited on space and would think I'd have the same amount of space between the tank and bumper.

It's the Pro1 from Pro Performance (Travis)

Accuair with a 5 gallon tank. It all fit up nicely, and we were glad we didn't have to mount it on the side of the frame rail. Fits perfectly back there, and you can't see it from the back.

X10 for Travis! I got my suspension pieces from him too. He never failed to answer a call or an email. When I go "air", he'll be the guy I call! One day I'll have it all together and post a the build. One day........soon.
