Here's what it looks like with the carpet back in. I also got the headliner reglued. It worked out really well, no tears, no ripples... so you can add 3 points with a headliner in, so there's no excuse not to do it!

A cheap box of office clip binders came in really handy for this job!

As I mentioned a bit ago, I'm also doing the backseat. I was able to squeeze in some GM parts!!! The guides came from a 78-82 corvette!

My car originally didn't have any rear seatbelts, so I had no factory bolts or holes to use for under the rear seat, so I checked out a lot of pics online, measured under the car to miss the frame and other things, and drilled some holes.

I also located the roller in the trunk. I wish it could have been moved over some so the line was a little straighter... but that's where the rear frame rail is, so it is what it is. Still works well.

Also, the trunk floor is not terribly thick, so I cut a piece of 1/8" steel plate 3"x4" to put under the floor. I will do the same for the belts under the rear seat as well.

This is as far as I have gotten. I've been putting in 60+ hour weeks the past 4 weeks including 10-12 hour saturdays which has not only killed my time to work on the car, but the energy I have left to do so. Hopefully we'll slow down a bit soon, I need a break.

Some of the trim on the car wasn't installed very well, and it's old aftermarket stuff that's pitted, etc, so I ordered new trim for the car. I removed the old stuff, touched up the paint underneath to prevent any future rust, and reinstalled the trim.

As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to keep the car as factory looking as possible... well, screw that. The factory A/C has gone out. Turns out the compressor is knocking and the clutch is in poor shape as well. To replace those parts, buy a new condensor/dryer/seals/fittings to convert to R134 after I replace the compressor will run me around $800. Not to mention the fan in the underdash unit sounds horrible, AND when I used the heat system this past winter it SUCKED. The fan sounded horrible, there was hardly any flow, and the heat didn't feel all that hot. My C10 has had a VA kit since 2006 and it's awesome, so I ordered one for the mustang to eliminate all of that old crap. I've also read the old York compressor can suck up to 15HP running, you can literally feel it kick on and off when it did work. You can't tell when the Sanden compressor kicks on or off on my C10.

Look it over really well. Mustangs rust about the worst of any 60s car. Their unibody construction was never coated on the inside like todays cars. I looked at over 30 cars before i bought mine. A lot of them were painted up pigs... most important areas are the frame, cowl (including under the dash) and front aprons/frame/firewall area.

Pontiacs can be too... but this one sat outside in the woods of NY for over 20 years. This one actually rotted from the inside out. Snow got inside, carpet never dried... very very rusty floor, but "not too bad" elsewhere.

Well we have up on that green mustang after seeing some before pics...Severely bent door and the kid never fully fixed it before paint so no idea what corner he might of skipped or weird stuff.. Went down to GA to look at what we thought was a greal deal on a 68 with 1989 302 and T5 in it. Only to find out dude wasnt forth coming. Lot more body issues, lifter ticking, gauges didnt work etc...but on the way back,,,We found one.. a 67 Mustang with 302 engine and a 3 speed. It was restored in 2000. Runs strong, has minimal rust, and the body is pretty straight. So now I can follow back through your thread and find some of the little things you have done to help with mine She even has high back buckets

Cool. Looks like a nice soild car. I want to do suspension mods but it's almost cruising season and my vintage air kit came in yesterday. I'm going to be replacing some leaking engine seals and maybe repainting the dash. They did a great job restoring my car everywhere but the dash... they painted over chips etc and it looks crappy.

awesome...I wont be able to cruise in mine for a while because i had ACL surgery but main objective will be to get tires, front disc conversion, and work on the rust.....All window seals are dry rotted to so lol

I like modifying stuff, but for this car, since it appears to be so original, or at least look really original, I want to modify it so that it looks like it could have been factory.

I added rear speakers in the rear deck and installed the factory style covers. Came out pretty cool, but then I got stuck on the front kick panel speakers. With the parts I had, they just didn't look quite right. All of the colors I bought that were supposed to match didn't either...

I pulled all the emblems off the car because they're a little rough and don't match the quality of the outside of the car. I test fit a fender badge on the kenwood grille cover and it looked kinda cool. So I went to a paint shop and had them mix me up spray cans of my interior color using my inner rear quarter panel cover to make it. It is a tick off, but it's painted plastic, not metal, so I was kind of expecting that.

I also removed the pins off of the back of the fender badge and buffed it with a dremel. Came out really nice. 3M tape and a sharp razor blade took care of the sticky part.

All parts were painted to match and I think it came out pretty cool. To me, this looks more like what Ford would have done than what I originally was going to use (right side of comparison pic.)

Thanks guys. It's been absolutely perfect cruising weather here. I've put probably 200 miles on the car the past two days. I placed my last big order with NPD on thursday so she's going to be in the garage for a bit. I need to replace all of the motor and trans mounts, timing cover seals, new oil pan gasket, water pump, pertronix ignition, and will be fitting all of the new Vintage Air stuff. I'm going to repaint the dash, so that's going to slow me down a good bit... and I still have to finish the mounts for the back seat 3 point belts... AND install the dual reservior power brake set up... I'm going to try to have it done by May 18 because a good friend wants to take some pics with it as his wedding... we shall see. I just don't have a lot of free time, I hope I can have it done by then... yeah... it won't be done by then...

This one pic represents a lot of pain in the ass greasy work.

On these cars, even with good rollers on the window frame (which from what I can tell, no one sells? and they're riveted on anyway) the quarter window will rock back and forth a bit. But, you can adjust them! Mine was adjusted so that it fell "forward" a bit and when I had the window up on the DS door the top back or the door frame would hit the top of the quarter window frame when I opened/closed the door.

I decided since I had it all apart (this happens so much!) that I would take the quarter regulator out, grease it and all the tracks up, and put two new rollers (these ones you can replace) on the regulator arms. It wasn't as bad as it sounds but took at least an hour to do, not counting the hour of video footage I watched on how to do it So the door now opens and closes nice!

I got all the quarter trim back on the driver's side and the 3 point permanently mounted finally on that side. It also got new dark blue pinch trim (whatever it's called) and all the parts cleaned up. I started Dynamatting the trunk so I get can all the crap back in and out of my garage.

NOT a good start to my morning... at 7:50AM a deer jumped out of the woods as I was passing and slammed into the side of my truck... I just barely saw it out of the corner of my eye and heard the bang. Never even touched the brakes. It was an area where the woods are right on top of the road. I hate deer.

At least it was my "old truck" and not the new mustang or any of the classics. It will be fixed. Already filed a claim. The cab dent is pretty bad, there's a crease so it will have to be pulled/filled/painted/blended and I think it will need a whole new bedside, it actually doesn't look too bad in the pics, but at one spot the bed is pushed in at least 4 inches. I don't see it ever looking right again.

Out with the bad... in with the good. I need to get this car ready for cruising!!!

One of the last hurdles in putting the backseat back in is finishing up the trunk sound deadener, and I couldn't mount the seat belts until the mat was back in... so it was time to get to it! Put the sound deadener in, then the matt, then locked down the seat belts, and neatly routed the rear speaker wires, and put the spare back in. Came out nice. I left the factory style stuff on the fuel tank.
