Any pics of the 67?

Nice tow rigs, do they have Cummins engines?
Only the one on the right is mine, and yes, it has the Cummins.

The thought crossed my mind of putting a cummins in the 69 GMC 4x4 on the front trailer and dismissing the Dodge, just for a moment or so.

Yes, both of the "tow trucks" are Cummins and Mopar. Cant beat the way they pull. The thought crossed my mind of putting a 12 valve cummins in the 69 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4, and dismissing the Dodge for bad behavior... Thought about it a moment or two anyway. LOL

Re: Expert Opinion, Original LWB vs Cut Down SWB?

i have a question. If you have a 1957 chevy truck and cut off the front clip and add a camaro front clip is that the same as cutting a LWB and making it a SWB? Just a thought that a buddy of mine told me. He owns over 70 1964-1972 c10s. He builds them up, gets them running and then sells them. He will tell you that he has tried to sell many stock complete trucks that are LWB and then takes a LWB and shortens it and that cut down truck will sell many times faster and for way more money then the LWB. HE tells everyone that he sells them to that they are cut down and done right. about 95% of the people are honestly not concerned if it is done right.
He has a couple real SWB trucks and yes they will for sure sell for more, but only to a person who will pay more for the stock short bed. This is usually from a person who is really a stickler for SWB not cut down.
So the decision is up to each person. I cut mine down and did it correctly. i am happy to have done it. I fully respect those who require the original, SWB or LWB.

Re: Expert Opinion, Original LWB vs Cut Down SWB?

When it comes to big rig trucks, the custom trend is actually to increase the wheelbase , not decrease. I really boils down to the question that has been asked many times on this forum, are we truck people who admire trucks built for a purpose or are we really car people pushed out of the muscle car market? We all know once its shortened, the next step is to lower. So it all depends on how you look at your vehicle, as a truck capable of hauling large items ( limited appeal ) or as an investment in the trend of building muscle cars with beds ( more appeal). There really no right and wrong answers, if the truck is ever sold, it will appeal to two very different buyers.

71-72's are sources for disc brakes and 5 lug axles around my place. 😉
