OK, before we get into this, I know that my Suburban has a 396 bored out to 402 and the badging and emblems say 400. I spent some time on Google and on the forums but can't find what I am looking for.

What were factory specs on these engines? Looking for cam specs, 2 vs 4 bolt mains, and 2 vs 4 bbl carb (w/cfm)?

It looks like the factory cast iron intake but someone has put on an adaptor/restrictor plate and a 2bbl carb.

The truck doesn't have much power. It needs a muffler. One is smashed and the exhaust from muffler back is gone. On top of that I want to clean up the engine and engine compartment. While doing that I plan to replace exhaust gaskets And would like to add aluminum intake, 4 bbl carb, chrome valve covers, and HEI ignition. Nothing too fancy or hi-perf, just want it to look clean and breaths little better and still keep a closer to factory look since it seems to be reasonably stock, although rusty.

And good info on engine specs for the 70 L47 would be appreciated.

Page 2 wont load and the entire file is too large for the forums limit but if you pm me I can send the entire file via email. Guy.
