How hard will it be?

I am purchasing a 69 3/4 ton Suburban soon. How hard to static lower it vs a 1/2 ton version. I have a air bagged 69 truck and a static dropped 67 truck.

I just don't know much regarding 3/4 ton Burbs and what to do to lower one. Any input is appreciated! Thanks

Re: How hard will it be?

And will a 71 or 72 grill fit the 69 without much modification?

Re: How hard will it be?

There are lowering components for 3/4 no problem...and yes a 71/72 grill will directly replace a 69...but do keep in mind, a 71/72 has blinkers/running lights in the bumper not the grill...soo, you would need to swap the bumper also and extend the wiring to reach that far...

With all that change required on the grill I think I will learn to like the 69 version!

Can you recommend a good company for static drop for the 3/4 burb?

Early Classic Enterprises offers a kit for 3/4 tons.

Re: How hard will it be?

I have a '68 C20 that I lowered, and didn't have any issues finding what I needed to get the job done. Plus I was able to leave it an 8-Lugger

I originally went with a static drop, then converted to bags. Currently running 2600's on all 4 four corners, and able to load it down without any issues. I loved the looks I got at the local hardware store when I dropped it down to load a 100 12x12 pavers and sand, then raised it up for the smooth ride home.

Garage is loaded with last parts I need to get the frame on the ground, but I'm recovering from my second shoulder surgery in 3 years, so I have a couple more weeks before I can break-out the welder.

Most of the build, from the beginning, is in the link below. I may have all the paperwork with parts numbers for the 3/4 ton stuff if you can't find what you need.

Here is the link from Early Classic Enterprises on a tech article about lowering a C20 Suburban. I bought a kit from them & it works great!!!!

Hey there! Did you use drop spindles or stock spindles? Did you have any bag rubbing issues on the front at all? I have an air ride set up ready to go in my suburban, minus front bags, but haven't installed it due to concerns of front bag rubbing that I have read on the board.

Shawn

I have drop spindles, and NO issues with rubbing the bags. However, I did mark where the sway-bar ends exit the mounts, and lopped-off the excess. That would have been the only things that even got close to the bags, and thats with stock control arms.

Re: How hard will it be?

Thanks for that info. I wanted to stay with the stock spindles, that is where I think others have had issues
