Re: Project Janus

Mounted the doors and fenders to check fitment briefly after the floor replacement, and to square the cab a bit before replacing the cowl with the donor pieces.

Re: Project Janus

Got some cab corner and rear door pillar work done. The pics look like the pieces went in really well, but there was a bunch of manipulation, pie cuts, cuss words, etc. Came out alright though!

Re: Project Janus

Some metalwork got done on the cowl and firewall area. There were a couple bad spots on there that were replaced. Also, finished the kick and cowl panel area's patch panel...sucks my donor piece was a couple inches short.

Re: Project Janus

Rocker time! Got the rocker installed, fits well now, with a ton of work. Also, made a trans hump...had to make it in 2 pieces, limits on tools.

Re: Project Janus

So this next part is a very time consuming, but in my opinion, well worth it. We decided to make the firewall symmetrical, and as you guys know, the passenger side is different because of the ac/heater box. Since this truck will have a Vintage Air unit, all the firewall holes and cowl holes had to go. Hope you guys like it!

Re: Project Janus

This build log may go a little stale for a bit, I have my Navy Reserve obligations to do, but I will post pics as they come, plus my builder works locally at a body shop.

Re: Project Janus

Wow, just wow your builder is no joke you are seriously lucky you found a guy with no fear and serious skills to take on your project.
This cab will be as good as it was when it rolled off the production line at GM.
I'm definitely in for this build.

Re: Project Janus

I am actually neither, I'm FTS, or at your time, it was called TAR...basically a fulltime reservist. I was in SD, now I'm up in Port Hueneme area.

Here's some more pics of the firewall and replacement cowl section.

Re: Project Janus

Fender fitment with new cowl and passenger side cab corner. It's obvious there was ton of work getting the corner to fit...

Re: Project Janus

I am really impressed on the metal you have done on this cab. I thought mine was bad but yours were almost gone. But it looks like you are going at it with no turning back. I did the same thing to mine except the cowl area and the roof. I made a small mistake on the lip in the wind shield area. and had a heck of a time fitting the glass in place. But what I see you want have that kind of a problem. Good work man I am really really impressed. watching

Re: Project Janus

Very nice. I'm completing the same work on my cab in almost all the same places. Mostly time more than anything else. It's nice to see someone repair it instead of the ol "get a donor cab".

Re: Project Janus

Good progress so far. Man I wish you were closer, I'd love to score that bench seat since your going with buckets. Looks to be in pretty decent shape and would just need a cover at most.

Those sound like some serious plans. I'm a big fan of the wheel choice as well. Best of luck.
