Previously gear vendors th350

I get kinda lazy sometimes especially on things I don't know a lot about. Instead of rebuilding my th350 I am thinking of buying a new one ready to go. I was also wanting to add the gear vendors over drive system. Does anyone know of a complete setup ready to roll.

The majority of what I see is the Gear Vendors on the back of T400s. Probably have to have it all built, unless you can find something on Craigslsit

Re: Previously gear vendors th350

I put a TH400 in my 72 then installed a GV unit. Had to pull the transfer case and have the input bearing hole bored to fit the larger bearing and shaft on the TH400. Also needed an adapter for the tranny and had to shorten the rear drive shaft. Even if You don't change the 350 out I don't think you will find one that will install without some work.

You could go to the gear vendors website and look at the TH350 kits:

Heck by the time you pay 3 grand for that you might as well convert to a 4l60 or 80.

Re: Previously gear vendors th350

Agree with GR8. Unless you are drag racing or maybe pulling a heavy heavy load (400th + GV) and have access to a good inexpensive GV, I would go 200 4R, 700R4, 4L60, 4L80. I had a GV behind a 350TH- tail of np205, worked great but I would not trade it for the 700R4 in my 67 4wd now - about half the cost of a rebuilt 350TH and a GV.

I will not recommend any trans rebuilder to you but I got my 700R4 from Monster - works great. Button on lockup and works like a 5 speed.

Only place I would put a GV is behind a stick now --- sold mine to wife's brother in law for his 6.5 diesel behind a sm 465.

Re: Previously gear vendors th350

I had one behind a 400 one of the 2 worst things I did to my suburban its tied with my old air kit.

Swapped it out for a 4l80 so much nicer to drive now
