Old junk yards

I had another member PM me this morning about a post I made last year about a Monte Carlo SS sitting intact in a local junkyard driven in with a smoking engine But the only way to get it out would be with a helicopter going straight up , I did some searching and found their story , There are still a bunch of these yards around here (good luck getting in them ) These are NOTHING like your local pic and pull these guys are overall wearing tobacco spitting good ol boys . It took me years just to get permission to go into some of these type yards and many are closed to the public . But BOY O BOY are they loaded !

Re: Old junk yards

I've told this story elsewhere, but......
A while back I went down to pick up a 71 bed.

On the way is an old yard with lots of our trucks.

He has two 72's sitting out front of the old house next door.

I was pulling a trailer and the parking is non existent at the yard so I pulled on to the old house which has plenty of room.

The yard rollback was parked there with a half loaded later model truck.

I assumed somebody was with the truck and backed my trailer in.

My big block 71 with Flowmaster 's is not quite, so I was pretty obvious. About that time the owner comes flying in and ran me off.

I guess he thought I was going to steal something.

Re: Old junk yards

Craigslist and eBay are todays junk yards

I love looking at the pictures of old junkyards people post up. Not really into going out in to the "field" anymore. I might hurt myself lol.

Re: Old junk yards

I read about this junk yard that was for sale in Canada last year. It's filled with old vehicles. No idea if it was ever sold. He wanted like $1 million.

Re: Old junk yards

I have a friend with a junkyard. He is only weekends and only if he's not doing a swap meet. He has a full-time job.

Then my other buddy, but full-time money making operation, keeps it all, doesn't crush. He has over 8,000 vehicles there. Across the road is the other one. Right by me is A&D and they don't let people walk back in. So they don't sell much old stuff since no one knows what they have. It's in the hands of the son now, so no hope. I used to be able to deal with Bucky and Marla, his dad and mom who both have passed.

Re: Old junk yards

I was at a car corral car show in Cally several years ago looking for a 69 camaro. Got to talking to this guy said he knew a guy with a big block camaro convertible that's been in a shed for 35 years. called the guy in Rogue River Or. and went to see the Camaro. Dang , the guy had 350 to 400 complete cars in rows . Had Fun that day looking at his collection, but didn't close the deal on the convertible.

Thumbs up Re: Old junk yards

My friend Dave and I spent the better part of a full day looking around in this yard. very nice dad & son operation. Some of these vehicles look like a little gas and tires you could drive off in.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Old junk yards

This is a place down in AZ
Last summer the guy said he was going to auction it all off
I bummed around taking a bunch of pictures
When I went in January and asked when the auction starts
They said he changed his mind !
