Flexplate to TC concern

dropped the new engine in, 307 out 305 in, and the holes on the flex plate are larger then the last one.

If your 305 is a '86 and newer, it has the one piece rear main seal which has a smaller bolt pattern for the flexplate. You have to use a '86-'02 flexplate.

Or does your 305 have a 153 tooth flywheel instead of a larger 168? Two different starters too.

Maybe the other way around. I think he is referring to the torque convertor bolt holes?

The actual holes are drilled larger? Or the bolt pattern for the holes is larger? Some flex plates have provisions for a couple different size bolt patterns.
