Re: Daverods 52

I always made cups top and bottom. It was the best way to get it as low as possible by cutting the tubes as big as needed.

This is a 2000 Tahoe I bagged. I used DJM lower arms, and plated them.

This one is a All wheel drive SS Chevy Truck we did. This one was a real challenge.

Re: Daverods 52

If you're running plates on the LCAs, you bolt the bags directly to the plates.
If you're running stock or other coil spring LCAs, then you bolt the bags to cups. the cups act like the ends of the spring.

Looking at that plated LCA, you just need upper cups, and you would drill through the plate and bolt the bag directly to the lower plate. alot of S10 guys run a setup similar to what you've made there.

Personally on my truck I will be running tubular LCAs, that are also made with a plate to directly mount the bag. These are the ones I will be buying.

That's just a picture. I have'nt made it yet. I was just wondering if that is what I needed to do. Or if the cups just set in the spring pockets?

well, it really depends on how low you want to go.
with upper and lower cups, you can only go so low on an "S10".

if you just mod the arm for the bag, you can go down until the "humps" on the arm hit the frame.

by "dehumping" the lower control arms and running a plate, or using aftermarket LCAs, you can go low enough to set the frame on the ground.

It's always that last couple inches that's the pain. Guess we'll be dehumping. I knew I'd be welding today.

if you look at the "baggin it" section of S10forum.com you'll find all the info you need... just be warned, it IS a mini-trucker site. lol.

Re: Daverods 52

nicely done.
Did you put anything under the plate?

when you go to cut the frame for the bag clearance, just take your time and make a nice smooth arc. From the work you've done so far, Im sure you'll cut it out nice and pretty.

Re: Daverods 52

With the upper cups I welded in a long stud that would go through the shock hole. It would keep the bag in place. With the lower I bolted the bottom of the bag to the plate, or lower cup. I've done many S-10's and they all laid frame. Not one failed air bad from rubbing, and waring a hole in the bag. Just make sure you cut away anything that can touch the bags. Also grind that cut smooth.

yup, you have to trim the spring cup area to clear the bags.
done properly, its no big deal. you can always put regular coil springs back in too (with diff LCAs obviously)
just dont hunk off a huge chunk like the kid did on the first frame I bought.

heres a recent thread on S10 forum with pics

Re: Daverods 52

Hey Dave when you get your link bars in I need some measurements. I pulled up to a stoplight today and the guy next to me had the same setup. He said it rode real nice with no twist.

That's funny I was thinking that you were out truck hunting today. Just buy one you need somthing to do. You can always add a couple windows. Thats my plan years down the road when I chop it. Doing pretty good for a project that's spost to be on hold, huh.
