Re: What's the rarest emblem?

So what is a 351 Magnum, anyway? Is that the big V6? What years was it available?

"351 Magnum" sounds like a Ford displacement and a Dodge brand name....

I would have assumed the black had been removed from one - I thought the factory only had a black background. I don't know for certain, so am interested to hear. That's one of my favorite emblems.

Sorry for the confusion posting both years on those CSTs. My "910" fender emblems are rare here in MD.

From '66 to '68 GMC offered a special high performance version of the 351 Magnum heavy truck engine in pickups called the 351E. The standard V6 in pickups was the 305.

For the record, GMC was using the 'Magnum' name for their large V6's over a year before Dodge did for the 383 and 440! The 351 V6 came out in 1960, long before the Windsor and Cleveland 351's.

Cool! I didn't know about them in the light duty trucks. Do you have a link to your truck online anywhere? I've never seen one equipped like that....

No, that was added. That's an earlier car badge. No optional engine badges till '69 for Chevys and GMC never did separate engine designates, except the 351 Magnum. A base model with V-EIGHT or V-SIX could have that on the GMC fender badge, but no size indicated.

It's really strange that this thread came back to the top. I brought these in from the shop yesterday to clean them up & take pictures of them. I don't know that they are rare but it is the only set I have ever seen in all of my junk yard scrounging. I don't remember what year the truck was. Most of the yards I go to don't have many big trucks.....

R3, I like your badge. I wonder if the Temporal Police would bust me for putting a '71/'72 badge on a '68?
Years ago, back when the dealership still had parts for my rig, a Parts Counter guy told me "The 292 L6 was Chevy's best kept secret."
Yes. 292s in 4X4s are rare. They take a special diagonal crossmember. I have never seen a K/5 or Jimmy with a factory one in it. Never seen anyone put one in their own Blazer. But I will someday.
Of course Ford stole a MY '63 292, and by '65 premiered their new and innovative 300" Inline Engine. Wanna talk about reverse engineering? The 300's intake, carb and exhaust are on the Passenger side and the distributor, starter, and fuel pump are on the Drivers side. Go figure?

Found this one above the radio. Smaller than the GMC fender Custom and curved to fit the dash. Does anyone know if it is correct location? And have you seen others.
