Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?

I've wonder myself. I also wonder why no one is talking about the '67s 50th anniversary being this year. Fifty years since the introduction of this great series of trucks. I think that's a big deal. Here we are 50 years later. Next year the 50th Anniversary trucks will be 50.

Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?

My dealer knows nothing either. Not that my dealer has any special connections or anything.

If they did know something I imagine they'd stay quiet in hopes of making a sale today... GM sales are down so it's not likely they'd push a customer down the road.

I'm going to wait it out. Thought about buying at 2018 anyways and then getting a vinyl wrap or something to create my own "special" edition. We'll see.

I've seen the TV commercials with something like 5 "Special Edition" trucks. You would think they would do something.

I was thinking the same thing. I took my 65 to the huge 50th show for Mustangs in Charlotte, I've never seen so many damn Mustangs in one spot, ever. I think one estimate was around 10K cars on that Friday.

It would probably cost a few bucks to do that and then the big shots wouldn't get their yearly raise.....

Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?

I asked this a year or two ago. got about same response...
Keith Seymore is a member here, and works for GM, on my thread he said he could not give out any information....
I'd like to know also!!! My 68 Golden may be just a pile, at the moment, but I may be in the market for a 2018. Thought it would be cool to have a 2018 and a '68.

Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?

Would be supper cool if they did! But these days I don't have much hope in it.
No truck since 2006 has really made me want to buy a new one anyway; just a bunch of cheesy plastic inside & out with useless add-ons to cause fault codes. Just think of what a nice 50th anniversary you could buy for 1/2 of what a 100th would be!

Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?

I got a great idea!! Let's ask Chevy. I just sent a message on their FB page and told them that we, members of the 67-72 truck board, want to know if their planning on a 100 Anniversary truck.
If I receive any response I will post to this thread.

Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?

They stopped making trucks before they hit 100 and started making computerized devices that can haul cargo and people. Forget the 100th anniversary model, they pop out special editions whenever they want. Don't need a reason other hoping to boost sales. How about a 100th anniversary celebration for Chevrolet Truck??? Harley made a big deal of their 100th. Trucks out sell cars. Didn't they do things for Chevrolet Motor Division's 100th? Maybe there will be events or even a 100th anniversary model. Maybe they are staying quiet till the '18s come out so as to not hurt '17 sales.

Well it's been 4 days. Guess if he knows he ain't saying.
Chevy won't let a chance to celebrate their products slip by. A major milestone it is.

He PM'm me back. He can't even give us a peep about anything. I understand, and Keith is a good egg!!! He would if he could!!! He has Chevrolet's and Pontiacs, just like me

I've read in the media that GM is pulling out all stops to cut prices and move inventory. Tim's thought may be spot on, they've gotta move the 17's before think about the 18's.

I wonder what they will do........things I'd like:
maybe a detuned 427
hopefully a neat color combo like the 68's
don't make this something so expensive that the common pickup owner can't even consider owning.
anyone else?

They have already priced me out of the new truck market. My last one was in 08. Bought it brand new from dealer for $18k. Went and priced a new one (exact same model and options) and it is now over $30k for a V6 single cab plain Jane work truck. I paid $48k for 2 acres and a 2100 sq. Ft house with 24sq detached garage and they gave me 30 years to pay it off. Can't envision paying more for my truck then I did for my home.

Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?

I think something would of happened earlier in the year, not in the second quarter of the year. GM would probably need another bail-out to produce anything spectacular for a 100 year anniversary. They could, as usual just do special paint and emblems. Woot woot

Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?

i'm due for a new (to me) truck. i normally don't buy new because i'm too cheap. but i've been waiting to see if they will convince me with a really great 100th anniversary package. being that we're half way through 2017 and not a peep, i'm starting to wonder if they'll do anything.

Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?

It's not quite time (traditionally, but who follows that these days) for new models to be introduced. If GM is doing anything, and I'd be surprised if they didn't, I'd guess they're not saying anything till they are available...a ceremonial unveiling type of thing. That's what the trucks deserve, anyway. By the way things are going it will probably be a 6 door with a 3' bed along with hand lotion dispensers, aroma therapy, and flower vases.
