67 4x4 dually - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

There's remnants of a 67 I've been driving by the last couple years.
It's a dual rear wheel 67. Yesterday I pulled to the side of the road to take a glance and notice the 4x4 hubs.

My understanding is that these didn't exist from the factory so either the 4x4 was added or the dual rear was added. It has marker lights too. Other than that I don't know what shape the truck is in but judge ing from the weeds around it... For at least 3 to 4 years.

My question isn't do they exist but did the factory make such a truck?
I think not but the memory isn't as good as it used to be.

I did a search but couldn't find the thread I know exists somewhere that says these were/were not made by the factory.

Oh yeah... I'm going to see if I can't pry it out of the guy just for the front axel if nothing else.

It's possible that it could be a Napco conversion. Like these.

I'm familiar with napco. Marmon Harrington would be another.
I have a few Napco conversion trucks out in the back 40.

My memory serves, it would have to be napco I guess. What threw me is it has factory hubs. So with that I'm guessing 3/4 ton 4x4 with dual rear swapped in.

I'm going to put the word out and maybe get the guys number. Out here just wandering around on somebody's property will get you introduced to castle doctrine if you aren't careful. Ill repost if it turns out to be anything special. Napco, 67 4x4, dually... None of them super common anymore. Thanks again.

Years ago, an excavating contractor for one building I contracted with said he had a '70 factory 4wd 1t. He also had a boatload of N.O.S. parts. I know through other people he was deep into these trucks, so knew what he was talking about. But I never saw it, so could have been a Napco with a misuse of the terms factory vs ordered new through dealer. The factory just plain didn't do it, but Howe and NAPCO were both in the silver book. It may have been a DRW C/20 with Napco conversion that used Budds up front.

I also have a friend with a body shop who about 15 years ago had a '68 4wd Stepside restoration he was looking for a bed to replace the original. I had a 8 footer and he said it needed to be 9'. I looked and it was a 1t 9' Stepside brush fire truck. I never looked at the front axle but assumed it was a C/30 Napco like I had. Mine was a cab & chassis from factory I bought with no bed and put a 9' Reading utility bed on.

I hope you get a chance to check it out. This is the kind of stuff I dig with these trucks

So...
I drove by again and this time I decided to get a better look. It is a 67 c30 with what appear to be aftermarket marker lights. Didnt notice the markers originally. It indeed has factory 4wd hubs. They are exactly like my 69 so Im guessing 3/4 ton. Front rims have 8 bolt pattern. If I ever see the guy there I'm gonna ask...but theres about 15 vehicles and two are really nicely restored examples of early 50's cars. Theres also a 59 apache hidden behind a barn that I didnt notice from the road. I didnt go any further than the c30 tho just in case his security plan involves Smith & Wesson. So there it is...a c30 with 3/4 4wd swapped in.
mystery solved? maybe. I'll revisit this thread if I end up owning it.

Maybe you could look up the property record and send them a polite letter of inquiry regarding the truck? They probably won't fire upon the postal carrier.
