It's basically a meeting of a bunch of guys who think they are kids. We bring our toys and tell each other how cool we are. LOL
And Dino is the 5th best lookin guy in Arizona so that's pretty cool to get to meet him.

So you're telling me that David Hasselhof, Eric Estrada, Justin Beiber, and Fabio all live in Arizona, too?

And we were sitting on the line ready to go and ............they cancelled the whole event due to rain. Towed the car back to the pits and loaded it up. Next year I guess.

Re: Jackalope

That sucks. I was hoping for a mind blowing record or something like that. Still really cool you were at Bonneville. Speaks highly of how diverse your builds are and your abilities.

Re: Jackalope

Sorry about the question, I was at work and our IT guys blocked your picture. I logged on to my home computer to specifically see that car. I dig belly tanks, especially for their historical significance. Land speed racing history is fascinating, and a lot of guys who later became big players in the hot rod industry cut their teeth at Bonneville and Muroc. I work at Edwards AFB every day, and I've been out on the old Muroc lakebed many times. It's sacred ground for both land speed and aviation history.

About 20 years ago, I did some work on one of the original tank cars, the Scotty's Muffler car. It was really rough, and the current owner wanted to try to preserve the car as much as possible. The mechanicals were really scary, and the bottom half of the body was really cut up and eaten away from years on the salt. I never found out what ever happened to that car.

Thanks for the Old Crow picture!

Re: Jackalope

Haha great pics buddy, looks like fun. Joe the truck looks amazing, Sam said it was nice but wow, very imnpressive. Especially for a 4X4. (j/k buddy)

So now that I'm back in action after the salt here is a little update for y'all. I cut down the factory column installed a new bearing. I also installed a provision for a new bushing for the factory 3 speed shifter shaft and converted it to a auto shifter for the 4L60e. I machined a splined end so I could clock the shift arm accordingly.
Also I installed a steady bearing and 3rd u joint to get the steering to clear the factory GM exhaust manifolds. Cheaper than buying headers.

Re: Jackalope

Looks good but that joint looks REALLY close to the exhaust manifold...or should I say the heat guard? Any worry it'll "cook"?
