How much can I expect to pay to have new floor pans welded in ?

Its hard to put a price on another man's work..different shops will have hourly rates and should be able to estimate it..but having done it before I would say at least a couple hundred each at a minimum...

If you have the pans, I'd say anywhere from 1-1.5K in labor, IF you can get someone to do it. Most body/paint places are not into low profit jobs such as this. If they supply the floor pans I would say the cost will be easily 3-4K. It sounds like an easy job, but it is very maintenance intensive to remove and reinstall correctly.

Some of this needs to be done on my 84 but I'm just going to patch the holes in the floor with metal, cover that with window metal tape and go on. I know that's NOT the way to do it but I want to drive the truck, not fix it all summer.

A lot of the price depends on how much prep work you do before you ask someone to stick the pieces of metal together. If your plan is drop the truck off with the floor carpet still in place and the new stuff in the shipping boxes in the bed, expect to pay a lot. OTOH, if you have the floor clean, dead metal cut out, edges prepped, new pieces cut to fit and edges prepped, should be reasonable. Most welding jobs involve hours of measure, clean, cut, etc. for a few minutes of welding. If you are planning on doing most of the prep work, might ask a normal welding shop if they would consider the job. Some custom exhaust shops will do small welding jobs.

the quick and dirty is if the job is not done right from the start the cab will never be correct . friend has one now the last so called body guy had his hands on it and the cab is so far off its basically junk . but the owner is so far in to it he cant scrap the cab and said just make it the best it will be .

with todays parts market if your cab is this bad and you need full pans and the prices are this high look at a clean rust free cab . you might be light years ahead in the end . i know this is the way i go when the firewall seam gets rust in the engine bay / floor pans are to far gone / other major rust damage .

good luck and ask tons and tons of questions on someone if there going to cut out your floor pans and weld in new . or you can wind up with a non square cab .

Here is what the floor pans in my 84 look like. The dark stuff is the under padding, I've salvaged a decent one from the junkyard and a more decent rubber mat too. They look worse than I thought but right now I'm waiting for the weather to be warmer and to do some work on the pass side inner fender first before doing anything on the floor pans. I have decisions to make, like I've said, I want to drive it this summer, not work on it all summer!!

You can be assured that you will need more than floor pans....

I do floor pan replacements plus rockers and cab mounts for $1800....

Just piecing in the floor pans, will patch the rockers. Drive this summer not work on the truck....

Be very careful welding in sheet metal in the passenger side floor area of the floor...there are fuel lines in the chassis rail with rubber join pieces that are usually rotted....

Thanks. I'll probably do the quick way out, pop rivet. Not really sure how long I'll keep this truck. Not the best way but better than nothing.

Yes, looking from the other side the other day I saw the fuel lines. Raining here now (like every other 3rd or 4th day & cold) so I'll check them in a couple of days. This rain is ruining my timeline (working outside, not in a garage).
