Help with buying a clutch

Clutch is slipping more and more.
Time to get a new one.
How do I find out if I need a 10.5 ,11 or 12 inch ?
The ram hdx88760 and hdx88762 look like a good buy.
I have a 327 3speed to buy for.
Still not sure if it is saginaw or muncie
Any advice for a first time is welcome.

Re: Help with buying a clutch

Guess your gonna have to disassemble it & look. Just ol' greasy nuts & bolts. Pretty straight forward, nice to have a lift & air tools. Done quite a few on the ground with hand tools. Might have to buy/borrow a pilot shaft tool to align the new disc & pressure plate & disc. Probably good youtube. Have fun !! ...... be a good idea to have the flywheel resurfaced..

Re: Help with buying a clutch

YOU don't have to pull tranny, just slide it back about 8 in. change pilot bushing and t/o bearing. alignment tool will come with kit. if clutch has been sliping a lot you probably need a flywheel too. cast iron is fine.

Re: Help with buying a clutch

you must remove the flywheel and resurface it. no "ought to" about it. if you dont it often does not last 10-15k more miles and it will not be covered by any warrenty

Re: Help with buying a clutch

Thanks again. It is definitely soaked in oil.
Not sure if I blew the main seal or my red neck oil
Spraying or both did it in.
Going to try 3 cans of brake cleaner before I tear it all apart.
