Anyone buying and installing plastic glove box inserts? Best brand? Easy to install? 72 C10 w/air.

Never have seen plastic reproductions. I have seen some really shallow plastic glove box inserts for use with aftermarket A/C units.

Is there one made now? I recall when a prototype was in the works quite a few years ago. I don't know what came of that but never heard talk about plastic glovebox inserts till now

Yes they are made. Old Air products, LMC, and CJ Pony to name a few. I need to remove my cardboard one to work on the radio. I'll most likely ruin it when removing. Thought it would be a good time to try one. They're made for trucks with and without a/c just like the originals. Reason I ask if anyone has tried them is installation ease. I know the originals need to be massaged into place by slightly bending. Don't know how bendable the plastic might be to "massage" it into place. They're probably all made by the same company. Regardless I will be buying one from somebody.

Yeah, I'd hope they took into account making them flexible as the cardboard ones. Hopefully someone who has one will see this

They are a lot easier to install if you let it sit in the sun for a few hours.

Do they install through the hole or have to mount them from behind? With the mods I have done I couldn't put it in from behind. There wouldn't be enough room.

I have an Old Air Products plastic one in my truck. It fit close to perfect.

Why ? Mine has the original fiber liner not bad for a 51 year old vehicle . I have to replace the plastic one in my 85 it's all cracked and falling out .

They install through the front hole. When I did mine, I put the drivers side in and slid it towards the drivers side and then got the other side in and slid it back. I have the vintage air, from their air kit.

I have the LMC plastic insert for A/C. Needed the extra space for defrost ducting. Seems okay, installed from the front and then rotate to set behind the glove box lip. Small notch for the glove box bulb is kind of a problem, kept hitting the bulb and having it fall apart. I have the cheaper replacement bulb, also from LMC. Just need to remove the bulb and then install it after the liner.
