project "SHORTHORN"

well this build started when i sold my 72 short bed.I went about a week and got the itch for a new project I called a guy on cl about some parts went to his house and saw he had a 1969 longhorn in his yard. Asked him how much and he said $275 bucks so thats how it started. The truck is a 69 longhorn with a clean body but no motor and tranny orignal 402/400. Trucks been sitting since 1992 so once i got it home i blew it apart im keeping the sheetmetal but everthing else has got to go. I scrapped the rolling chassis
for a total of $215 bucks so im into it for $60 not bad. The plan is to build another short bed as cheap as possible and im off to a good start.

Re: project "SHORTHORN"

well I finally got my frame all cleaned and painted and started reassambly.
Only took 4 trips to the hardware store to get all the right hardware!
Picked up some TJ springs for the rear only 25 bucks
Still need some 5 lug axles and drop spindles to get it back on the ground

Unhappy Re: project "SHORTHORN"

made some progress but it ends up my frame ie a 67 so it has a wide uper frame rail so the factory big block mounts i scored dont fit.
im planning on measuring a 68 up frame and cutting mine down so motor mount towers fit. Only bad part is i already painted the frame.
