Mexican C10 SWB truck????

I was over a fella's house last night checkin' out some parts. He dug out a photo album and showed me a pic of a light blue & white 68? SWB C10 that was a MEXICAN truck. He took the pic at the Carlilse truck nats. The bed looked like it was from a Ford truck with a small wheelwell in the rear and a wierd body line about 2/3 up from the bottom of the bed. Anyone have any info?? Never saw one before...

The box is kind of crossed between a 66 and 68. When I lived in AZ, I saw a 73 up and it had tail lights like a 67-72. No pics.

When I was in Mexico I saw one of those trucks. It was in another town and I didn't have my camera at the time. It looked funny, but I did see a bunch of our trucks in normal US configuration.

If anyone goes to Carlisle(Trucks),the guy gives a history. The trucks were sent to Mexico from the United States in parts. The beds were made down there to save costs. Many probably got other special beds, also. So why ship one just to have a "take-off" when cost is the main concern?Since that part of America`s economy is weaker than this part.

Re: Mexican C10 SWB truck????

Up until a while ago I knew that they still did take trucks apart and send across the border. Within the last like 5 to 10 years you could get a new 1990 truck that had been taken apart and put it back together if you had the right connections down there. The thing is about ipmorting whole trucks is a no-no but parts is fine all day long. I live in a large farming area and I know that tractors are dismantled to go over as well. When I have down south dealer come to my shop to look at buying trucks from me if it is newer than6or 7 years old they only can buy it to drive for themselves . It has to be older than that to sell across the border under some laws that they have. But it is really wild to think you can go to this big huge warehouse and pick up all the stuff to put a new old truck together, from what I was told at that time you could choose the colors and the whole deal.

Re: Mexican C10 SWB truck????

I think taxes about double the cost of importing a complete vehicle. I know this is true for Costa Rica. It's absolutely cost prohibitive to "bring your own" if you decide to move there. And that's a used vehicle.

All you have to do is type "mexican truck" into the Google search box at the top of this page, click on the circle in front of "67-72chevytrucks.com" and click on the "Google" button you will find them all....

Did you bring this back from 2005 just to post your truck for sale???

Re: Mexican C10 SWB truck????

Do you have a current registration with the state of California? If not, you are unlikely to get one with the identifying information installed with screws instead of rosette rivets.

Re: Mexican C10 SWB truck????

Those numbers are a different format than USA market trucks. Not sure what to tell you. It is odd that the VIN plates are screwed on.

I don't find the screws odd at all. "Rosettes" were not universal

Size: 65.6 KBJust purchased a 71 Mexican C10. Thinking about replacing the bed but would also like to keep it all original with the exception of the engine. It seems like it’s all original with the exception of the paint. I have a Mexican title that indicates the original color and drive train, which is a 292 in line 6 with a 4 speed transmission.
