No real progress on the truck but real close. Finally shipped the boat off to storage and spent today cleaning and organizing the garage. I took all my old truck and Mustang parts, put them in the storage trailer, stacked all my new parts on the shelves, swept/mopped/dusted, and moved the truck to its new spot in the garage. Now I have plenty of room all around the truck and I don't have to move all the vehicles out to work on it. Hopefully progress should start picking up.

Finally got to put in some time on the truck today. Finished yard work just before dark and headed in the garage for some football and wrenching. No real big progress but I've starting taking off all the front end stuff. Need to get a pitman arm puller for it and the passenger side spindle as its being stubborn. Overall it felt good putting in some time on the truck.

I'm suppose to have a buddy come over and help next Sunday so hopefully some real progress will happen. I'm so ready to see this truck with the dropmember.

The spindles that came with the truck are McGaughy drop spindles. I'm planning on running Wilwood 14" 6-piston calipers and see they recommend CPP. Anybody know if they will work with my spindles or do I need to get the CPPs?

I'm pretty sure the difference is in the caliper mount. Most, if not all, of the spindles have the caliper mount cast into the spindle, except the CPP Modular unit. My theory is that Wilwood uses these since their brackets will bolt right onto them. The factory style caliper mount would need to be cut off and holes drilled for the aftermarket caliper brackets, and most companies don't want to take the risk of a customer messing up their spindles and blaming them for it.

But, I don't know if that theory is 100% accurate.

I just bolted on a pair of the CPP Modular drop spindles. They're nice pieces. Moves the wheels in 3/4" per side, according to some sources. I didn't measure before and after, but I've noticed about 1/2" per side.

Thank Duane! I spoke to Dave at PB and Wilwood the other day and that's essentially what I got out of them as well. I went ahead and sold my spindles to a buddy and will be ordering the CPPs in the next few days.

Also while I was on the phone with Dave I went ahead and ordered this. I'm sure no one saw this coming

Yeah I kept trying to talk myself out of it saying I have to draw the line somewhere. I decided that was not the right place I'm dreading more rivet removal and the cab is definitely coming off!

You should be very happy with them. I bought their modular spindles and they bolted up perfectly with ZERO issues on my '71

Oh I've been thinking about it ever since they released pics.

Yes I have the adjustable trailing arm crossmember and transmission crossmember I no longer will be using.

Yeah it was $150 I think for shipping. It was steep but I feel its worth it. Well that's what I keep telling myself.

Thanks. I was planning on using the CPPs on my old truck but this one came with the McGauphy's. I planned to use them but I keep changing my build to where nothing I own is compatible

Had a decent day out in the garage. Kept getting distracted with other work around the house but I did manage to get the front crossmember out. Overall it was pretty easy other than I smashed my left ring finger not once, but twice. It feels wonderful and pretty sure I'm going to lose that nail. After a few choice words I decided to break out the air tools and progress sped up with no injuries.

Now I get to do a little cleaning and then I'll start installing my dropmember.

Another Sunday out in the garage with a little progress on the truck. Spent way more time than expected changing the battery in Jen's Accord. The terminals were so corroded that I had some challenges getting the old battery out. Once that was out of the way I got to work on the truck. Man I forgot how much rivets SUCK!!! I learned some new things today:

1) placing the jack stands directly under the radiator core support brackets make the job a tad bit more difficult.

2) ALL my drill bits are dull

3) I'm not good at sharpening said drill bits

4) painters plastic works great for keeping the floor clean while cleaning the frame

5) Make sure the drill has completely stopped before sitting it on the painters plastic

6) it takes a lot of time untangling the plastic out of the chuck of the drill

7) I still have to clean the floor

No pics as the frame looks just like the above but no core brackets and a lot less gunk and dirt.

I ordered the cpp modular spindles from summit because I was more confident in their product support than cpp themselves. Turns out I'm glad I did order them from Summit. The pair I first got had an incorrectly machined tie rod mounting point. Summit exchanged them no questions asked at no cost to me.

Yeah I agree on placing a CPP order with a dealer rather than direct. My last chat with them on the phone they tried charging me $5 for their product catalog. I haven't heard very many positive stories about their customer service. I've been holding out to see if any dealer is having a Black Friday sale on CPP product. If not I'll either order from Summit or have Porterbuilt throw a set in with my frame stiffener shipment.

Wow... I'm kind of shocked about all the bad words for CPP. I've dealt with them directly multiple times for purchases and have had nothing but good experiences.

There are even some things that I questioned them about, because I read bad things on here and it was all made perfectly clear to me, why people were having so-called issues.

The thing seems to be, that most people don't read everything 100% before ordering their parts, especially on the spindles. Their specs are perfectly explained, if you read where they get their baseline dimensions from. People assume to much that they read, so they never get the total story, instead of going right to the source.

I'm actually hoping they have a Cyber Monday sale, so I can buy more stuff from them. I also order most of my stuff from their Ebay store because that usually saves me about 10% and almost always has free shipping too
