Miss Maybel

Guess I need to start a build thread and then try to keep it up to date

I have this 1970 swb GMC that I am only the third owner to. My Dad gave her to me a few years ago....and she has sat waiting for me to finish college and get a "better" job. I am one of those late bloomers that decided to get my degree a few years (20 actually) after I should have!

So I am at a point in my life where me and my son can get busy rebuilding a great truck! My blog for her started on Wordpress and is : http://1970gmctruck.wordpress.com/

I plan on putting everything here now instead. So I have only just begun with Maybel and hopefully can get her going in the next year or so. She runs pretty strong now, but has been "rode hard and put up wet" as I have heard before!

For now you can check out my before pics at: http://1970gmctruck.wordpress.com/pictures-of-maybel/#
but I will make sure to post all other pics here on her build site!

Welcome to the site! Like the details added to the pictures.
Noticed your VIN decoder graphic, I have one like that in my build thread.
Don't forget to credit w/a link to the source if it's someone elses!

Sorry about that! I thought I did...but just took care of it. Thanks for pointing that out.

Re: Miss Maybel

Okay I have run into a problem and need a little help. The seat is shot. SO do I redo the bench seat or find an alternative? What year seat will work? Maybe a 60/40 split?
Thanks for any help!!

Re: Miss Maybel

Let me know what you find. I have the original bench seat and was going to get it recovered. My wife likes riding in the middle. So I am debating what to do.

Thanks.

Re: Miss Maybel

Been busy tearing Maybel apart! I will put some pics up tomorrow. Right now trying to get the front clip off so I can get to the frame cleaning a little better.
