swapping idiot light dash for gauges, which wires need changed ?

I have put a gauge dash in my truck and I changed temp sending unit and oil pressure fitting but which wires still need to be switched ? Also I am not getting power to my ignition switch when I try to turn it over,I can jump the starter with a screwdriver but thats it. I am not getting power to the purple wire on the starter. I am putting this truck back together from a complete frame off. I know the two wires on the starter are in the correct place. If I knew HOW I could post a picture of my nice , clean , painted , partially assembled 67/71/72 2WD SWB.Thanks for the help

The inst panel does not need to be hooked up to run the truck. I drove mine for a week without the panel in the truck at all. (don't ask why)
The wires that you need to chainge around can be found on GMC Paul's site, however, if you are doing a true frame off restoration, wouldn't you rather install the correct harness?
As for posting a pic, look under the box you type in when you start a thread, there is a brouse button, just click that and find the pic in your computer and if it is small enough, it'll be here.

I think you have to change the headlight harness when going from lights to guages. Do you have a wire going from the pos. bat. cable to the junction block on the fender.

Thanks for the GMC Pauls site, looks like I have to move a couple of wires and add a couple for the alternator. Hey Ozark Hippie got that 4 x 4 done yet ? Yes I do have the wire to the terminal by the battery hooked up.For some reason I am not getting power to the starter or ignition,I know it has nothing to do with the dash. Thanks My pic will not post says file is too big..Oh Well
