Frame building!!

Where can i find some layout measurment for a 3100 frame? I have really been thinking of not using the full frame on an s10. But to only use the front clip then build the cab section with 2x6 and then the rear with 2x3!! Anybody done this??

Re: Frame building!!

put the model and year in your signature and you will never leave this important info out again
the factory assembly manual will have bucu measurements and is very helpful for getting a truck back together
you can buy the fam at any parts supplier

Re: Frame building!!

That pic looks like a bigger truck, the 1/2 - 3/4 tons have a straight flat front main rails.

Re: Frame building!!

OK, tomorrow I go out and look at mine, I could have sworn the front rails were horizontal and parallel....

Re: Frame building!!

It is slightly arced, the FAM drawing is exaggerated. I suspect might have to do with not stressing the frame between the spring mount points. Unless you slamming the truck real low, building it straight would not be an issue.
