Rear end swap

Ok the hubby wants to switch out that crazy old rear end with something a bit more highway friendly. Has anyone else done this if so what rear end did you use? Disc brakes? Any major issues??

Re: Rear end swap

I bought a rear end out of a S-10 Blazer with rear disc brakes. The 1998 to 2004 S-Blazers all had rear disc. The S-10 Blazer rear end is narrow. The two wheel drive is narrower then the 4 wheel drive by a few inchs. I had to cut off the old sping pad and weld on a new set after relocating them. I also had to weld on new shock mounts. I replaced the ring & pinon and a new posi unit that was for a Camaro so it's a bit beefier then the stock S-10. Some S-10 rears came with posi. I hope that helps.
