Turbo is a 78/75 ON3, and i would go the same route with this particular set up, if i was to do it again. Its a great turbo for the buck, cant wait to stretch its legs and find out what it can do on this little 4.8 ....

That's pretty cool! I've never seen an intercooler mounted like that. I wonder if it will affect anything with going to higher boost.

Got more photos on inside engine bay? I'm mocking up my log manifold right now for my 78/75 5.3 build. Trying to get a good look at any clearance issues.

You have to get creative when things get tight, lol. For an intercooler of this size and quality to go on any application has got to be a plus reguardless of mounting position. I guess it will do what ever it is capable of doing in this location and that will be in my opinion more than plenty in this little pickup. I also have room for two small pusher fans if need be. I had seen another guy build a manifold similar to yours, he called his a truck "log" manifold made out of Sch 40 pipe.

yikes, twin turbo? you're gonna have fun keeping it on the road. drive with care man. get some good stoppers to go with all that go, and maybe a cage and harness.

good googly moogly I love the atlas engine. I had a couple colorados and loved the 5 cyl lope at idle and the twin cam growl at higher rpm. the atlas platform gets a lot of grief but 510hp is not something to sneeze at and did you see the twist?

I want to be perfectly honest with everyone on here. This is a great forum and is cool to look at sometimes when its raining or I am sick laying in the house. But honestly I don't spend much time online because I don't have time for it. Most of my FREE time goes to my trucks. There are kits out there at a good price.

Obviously not going to be a perfect fit ......

Think I'll just build mine as a 6.0 and later on add a small turbo if I get bored at 300hp.
Room to grow so to speak.

Finally started on my 5.3 turbo build last night. Got the log manifold mocked up and turbo mocked into position.

Looks like your doing a fine job, i tried to send you a couple pics of my engine compartment but for some reason they wont load through private message. 3" schedule 40 is the way to go. It is also a good idea to brace it front and rear to hold all the weight. The LS motors only have the small 8mm bolts on the manifold. I sometimes even tap them out to 10mm for better strenght . Here is a couple more pics. These were early in the build. I also added o2 at elbow below turbo and wide band after these pictures.

If you go back a few post you will find the manifold picture. I added a rear brace that bolts to the rear of the head also after this picture was taken.

Have you dyno'D it yet to see what kinda numbers it puts out?also do you have any video of it running? I'm curious as to how loud the exhaust is.

523 RWHP, lots of room for more boost. loud out the fender when uncapped, exspecially under boost. Mandrel 4" all the way back through a 4" in 4" out stainless muffler nice and throaty.
