HI, I just picked up a '57 3600 for my brother, with a toolbox bed and a straight six from another car in it, its a 4spd trans with a granny gear 1st. Runs and drives good but I will need a rear end swap to get her over 55mph! Thats later though. This is alot older than what I'm used to ('67-72) Some questions I have now is:
*DO these trucks have a fuse box? If so where? My tailights and parking/ blinkers don't work. Part of it is because the clicker in the blinker switch is broke but I only have headlights that light up. Now alot of wires are just twisted together but I wanted to find fuses first.
*Where can a guy buy rubber boots to go in the holes in the floor where the starter pedal is, the brake, and gas pedal?
My brother and I will have more questions as we go I'm sure, THANKS

The fuse block is under the dash on the firewall on the driver's side. Should be obvious if it is there. If it is gone, you may want to consider re-wiring the whole truck as part of your plans to re-doing the truck. These are great trucks and I personally want to say thanks for getting one and keeping it out of the "crusher"! rico_bob

EZ-Wire kit seem to be getting pretty popular and I've heard good things about it, especially the price. Another company is painless performance.

if looking for a more stock kit then Look at chevy duty or LMC.

The generator for the truck has fried. Bearings are a mess. What is the recommended step for this? Re-build the generator, find another generator, get an alternator kit of some kind... Any suggestions of what avenue to take, and how to go about it?

What would be the best manual out there for a 57 chevy 3600 truck? I don't see that Chiltons goes back that old, and people on ebay don't get very specific as to what info is in certian books an manuals.

Try hot rod wires. they are fair priced and great quality. I have seen several people use these and had great reports about the results.

I got my kit from American Auto Wire...There aren't enough good things to say about this kit. It was designed specifically for the 55-59 Apache, with all of the correct fittings, plugs etc.
Also very easy to install - clear instructions.
Finally, very good customer service...I had a couple questions because of my aftermarket MSD Ign. system, and their tech support was fantastic.
Another worthwhile purchase was the factory assembly manual.
Finally, order a catalog from Brothers, Chevy Duty, and LMC truck (btw, the LMC catalog is a great source for reference drawings on how parts fit together.
Here's a picture of the finished wiring in my engine compartment...

i have some i am trying to sell. they are not original, just some plain chrome steel wheels. they have tires too if you want those, but shipping my get expensive with the tires too.

resin addict is right about American Auto Wire products. I got the kit off of an e-bay auction. It came with eveything, dimmer switch, headlight swicth, ignition swicth with keys and more. All of the wires are stamped were they go all the way down the wire, so it make it easy not to get them mixed up. Check out e-baymotors and do a search in the classic auto parts. Good luck!
